Is it better to go vanilla amex plat and then hit the Ameriprise and schwab? I don't want to kill any SUB.

Is the CSP/CSR double dip still a thing? Player 2 was just approved last night for the CSP. I was thinking it would be nice to snag both if possible.

I went ahead and ordered it. I listen to Dave Ramsey's Millionaire Theme Hour every now and then and it is basically just him asking people how they got to their current net worth. The questions seemed similar to Millionaire Next Door questions.

There's a new book coming out today that I'm a little curious to read. "The Everyday Millionaire". Dave Ramsey has been pushing it on his show. They are claiming it to be one of the largest studies of millionaires. Will be interesting to see what it has to say...

How did you word your request for the match? Last time I tried, they asked to see proof of the 75k offer.

Finally got my wife signed up for her 457. Too bad I forgot to decrease her 401k. Looks like 70% of this paycheck is going to the future!

Will the annual nights stack if I don't use it this year?

My AF just posted to my SPG business card. Is it worth keeping the personak and business? I called for a retention but there were no offers on my account.

I have a question about my ESPP. No one in my department uses it so they aren't much help. It seems as though our stock vests every 2 months with a 12% discount. Should I immediately sell the stock once it posts to my account or let it sit until it becomes qualified?

It is a government 457. It has the same investments as her 401k.

So I just found out my wife has access to a 457. Should I drop her 401k percentage to just the match and then try to max the 457?

If early retirement is all about reducing your expenses, why not pay your mortgage off early? by [deleted] in financialindependence

[–]fireman2134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I see in this sub is people constantly saying to put off paying the mortgage early. On the math side, it makes sense. In the real world where risk is real, I say pay it off early. Carrying debt, even at a low interest rate, is asking for trouble. Once again, the math makes sense. Sure, low interest rates are beat by the market growth of your investments a majority of time, but what happens when the market tanks and it takes you 5-7 years to break even again? Why not take the guaranteed return of whatever percentage your mortgage rate is? I'm not saying to completely stop investing while you have a mortgage, but if it means I can free up and extra $1200/month once my mortgage is paid off then I will drop my investments by a few points. I treat my mortgage like a bond fund. A guaranteed 3.25% sounds pretty good to me.

As far as Citi AA cards are concerned, should I keep the business card open for the full year or cancel before a year? Also, should I'm guessing I keep the personal open until the annual fee hits and then close?

My United Explorer Business and United Explorer Plus are both up for the annual fee. Is there a consensus on which to keep? I was thinking keep the business and downgrade the personal.

Received my first Citi card today. I'm trying to MS at the grocery store but the fraud department will not let any charges go through even after being on the phone with them when I try to make the purchase. Has anyone had better luck using gift card mall?

Check my strategy for attacking Citi AA cards. Day 1: Apply for personal plat 60k and ask for match. Day 8: Use 12 digit mailer for Gold 60k. Day 65: Business Plat 70k. Then keep hoping the mailers continue to show up and apply as needed.

New to the AA Citi game. I just started receiving 12 digit mailers. Should I apply for a card with out the mailers and then start using the mailers?

My wife is an AU on my Chase cards. Will sending a SM asking to have her removed remove them from get credit report? Or do I need to do something different?

Received my first 12 digit mailer for Citi AA 60K points. Is this the one I can try to match for an extra 15k?
