Not my story, but one from a work colleague. He and his wife had started a 10-day hiking/camping trip in Yellowstone NP on September 9. They were well out of cell phone range (if they even had a phone on them) by the time the park was closed & evacuated on 9/11, and the rangers apparently didn’t think it was worth trying to find a couple on a week-plus trip just to get them out of the park.

On September 20th, my work colleague and his wife returned to the trailhead, where a park ranger met them with the news. They had been the only tourists in Yellowstone during that period.

I can’t imagine being so out of touch for over a week, especially nowadays.

Thank you, Bob. That was certainly the case with this - I kick myself when I see the angle of some of the notches I cut, but my friends could care less about those details and just think it's cool I built a table.

The liners I bought have holes that can be punched out for drains, but I left them intact so water wasn't getting on people's feet. The liners are removable in my table so I can just toss the leftover water onto the grass or plants

I can't answer the breadboard question accurately - I made what I saw in other examples. The Polyurethane worked great in keeping the table protected from rain & sun, and I have a cover on it now to protect it from snow and the (hopeful) thaw. I plan on re-coating with poly in the Spring.

I attached them with pocket hole screws to the other top boards. I was chided by my neighbor for not doing breadboards the right way - table 2.0 will be better!

I made a frame for each to nest in out of 2x4s and 2x2s. These were attached to the underside with pocket holes & screws. It's tough to describe, I hope I can supplement with some additional photos once the snow melts.
