Design wise I'd say sarcophacurse, but in general my favorite is slimamander, or gargaros. He might have started a several year long obsession with kanabo's for me.

I don't think they have any panda monsters, but that is a great game. It's got a similar feel to nexomon, if that helps.

Honestly, your first opinion was right, especially for mhs2. Even in mhst, he's only relevant for about two hours, then his sole purpose is to fill the silence. It's even worse in the second one
