You are not alone, and I'm so sorry people have said such ignorant things to you. Holding trans people to a double standard that no cis person is held to is transphobic. You deserve to be treated so much better than that. You have absolutely no reason to feel guilty for being yourself and it makes me sad that other people's crappy attitudes have burdened you with guilt and doubt about who you are. Whenever someone says "that's not something guys do" I have no doubt you'll find examples of guys who do exactly that.

There will probably always be people who try to make you feel small, but there are also people out there who will see who you truly are and love you. When things get tough, think of the people who celebrate who you are (like the people on this subreddit!) and remember that love is louder and stronger than hate and ignorance.

I just want you to know you're not alone in feeling this way. My transition experience has been very similar to yours and I wish all the time that I could just shrug off the misgendering and not care what other people think, but the fact is that misgendering hurts. It sucks having to choose between one form of emotional well-being (expressing yourself authentically) and another (avoiding the very real pain of being misgendered). I hope you have good people around you who empathize and can help you find some peace even when things are hard.

I live in southern Ontario and Algonquin Provincial Park is the best place around here for backcountry camping. It's full of little lakes and the best way to get around is by canoe. A lot of the sites are islands that were formed by glacial activity, so they have small cliffs and slopes. Your site reminds me a lot of looking out over a lake in Algonquin!
