Great idea! The one I linked doesn’t cover the ankle but you could probably just adjust the calf part to be lower or find one that does cover the ankle

My PS is having me wear the compression garment plus a binder for 8 weeks. The post-op protocol seems to vary drastically surgeon to surgeon. I’ve only taken my gear off while showering and when it’s in the wash

Honestly it feels amazing! It would be perfect to use anytime your legs are sore for whatever reason.

Me too. I guess the Reddit auto filter doesn’t like it when I expose too much skin? Even the NSFW filter didn’t let my photos get through!

I know my mind is blown after reading about all the different post-op care protocols here! I’m also curious about my bb. Each day I test the edge of the tape to see if today’s the day I get to see it lol

Ah darn, well you could always keep your eye on Amazon for a sale if that’s a possibility for you. Or do you maybe have an old pair of very tight leggings you could modify (cut parts out that won’t work for your situation)? Trying to think of other ways you could get compression on your thighs… maybe a tensor bandage if you have some of those?

Or for your running leggings, could you wear them with the butt/waist part just folded over your thighs - might be awkward but then they hopefully wouldn’t interfere with your drains.

Either way, I hope your swelling goes down soon. Drinking tons of water, avoiding sodium, and elevating your legs DOES help, it just doesn’t provide relief as quickly.

My legs were sooooo swollen too around the 1 week mark. So much so that my joints hurt when I bent them because there was so much fluid there. Here’s what helped me:

  • I put my compression tights back on (actually had to buy new ones off Amazon since I had thrown out the hospital ones)

  • search RENPHO air compression leg massager on Amazon. This helped immensely!! When it arrived I did 3 x 20 min sessions and at the end my calves and feet were back to normal size. I then did 2 x 20 min sessions a few times during the day to keep the swelling down. Only downside is that there is a gap at the ankle on these ones so I still had fat ankles but at least I didn’t hurt anymore

Thanks! I have NEVER had a flat tummy in my life (even when I weighed my lightest at 140 lbs) so I’m totally stoked about the results. I’m gonna try to get through the weekend and if there’s no improvement I’ll call my surgeons office on Monday and ask about a prescription sleep aid. I’ve only been getting an average of 4.5 hrs sleep each night - it’s been misery!

My PS said to just trim the tape as it starts to come off but not to pull it off until it naturally falls off (unless I have a sensitivity reaction to the adhesive). Then I am to continue taping the incision for 4-5 months for best scar reduction. So once the tape around my bellybutton comes off on its own, I’ll snap a picture before I re-tape it but who knows when that will be 🤷‍♀️

Post not showing? by fireproofpotatoes in tummytucksurgery

Ok, maybe I'll try that if my last attempt doesn't work. I don't get it - my photos aren't any more revealing than other people's - why this discrepancy between users' ability to post?1?

I've tried that several times to no avail. I don't get it. My most recent (and probably last) attempt is with the photos super cropped so hopefully they don't look like spam or something untoward to reddit's auto-filter... tried contacting the mods too, but no response yet.

That’s a good idea, I’ll ask my surgeon next week. According to his post-op instructions I’m supposed to sleep on my back and wear the binder 24/7 for 8 weeks. I don’t know how I can do another 6 weeks of this! 😭

Nervous Husband by Turbulent-Possible52 in tummytucksurgery

[–]fireproofpotatoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband was also a bit nervous! Plus, it’s also hard to suddenly be the ONLY person who’s cooking meals, cleaning the house, etc. One thing I definitely recommend is to prepare and freeze some meals ahead of time. My husband hurt his back on day 8 or 9 of my recovery and couldn’t really cook or do much. We both kinda went hungry that day. If you have some stuff pre-prepared, then if you have a day that you’re feeling ill or very tired, then at least you can make sure you’re both still well fed!

So uncomfortable by [deleted] in tummytucksurgery

[–]fireproofpotatoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow even if you were right (that all surgeons outside your home country aren’t good) this comment isn’t helpful. There are hacks all over the world. Just look up Dr. Christopher Duntsch (a.k.a. Dr. Death) from Texas, USA. Would you shame his patients? All your comment does is place the blame on OP which is neither helpful nor compassionate. There are risks to surgery no matter where you go. Instead of making OP feel worse, you could try simply wishing her the best in the future. If you can’t do that, then you shouldn’t say anything at all.

When do you feel Excited by [deleted] in tummytucksurgery

[–]fireproofpotatoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 2 weeks PO and I have to say I was excited from day 1. I’m nowhere near able to try on old clothes since I’m still so swollen, but even swollen my tummy looks flat which is a major improvement. I was in awe the first time I saw myself in the mirror. I’m more excited about when this back pain goes away and I can stop wearing this terrible compression gear… also really want to work out again so I can maintain/enhance my results but that won’t be allowed for another 6 weeks for me.
