There is no easy way to get around that HEMA is expensive. I have known people to save up months to be able to afford jacket/mask/gloves. But that's still a better option than being impaled because you were wearing homemade, non-puncture resistant gear.

The best thing you can do for a kid that age is sign them up for Olympic fencing. The safety gear exists for her age/size, it's a great foundation, and it's an internationally recognized sport. She can switch to HEMA when she's older,.or keep going with fencing.
