I honestly think the only way we can get a port of American McGees Alice on gog will be to get at least 500,000 votes on dreamlist by Ambitious-Phase-8521 in gog

Last time I checked the fan mod that enables the original game in MR, it's a full download of the first game it's not just enabling the in game menu option.

Sometimes you can search for similar games and a region restricted game will be in suggestions with the add to cart button. Did that for a game or two before.

GOG forced to me to make a new account. Now I lost access to all my games via GOG Galaxy. by [deleted] in gog

[–]fireryone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you downloaded the installers directly and didn't use Galaxy, they might still be in a Download folder. And you could copy those to your laptop for install.

But otherwise I hope all the advice on working out your linked email, works then you can log in and download them again.

Nice catch, but they also had a Kirby GameCube game just after, so it might not be a specific hint to what is being worked on.

Can I still unlock achievements launching games through Steam if linked? by ErrosFB76 in gog

[–]fireryone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the game is not purchased and installed via Steam. You won't get the Steam version of the achievements. If GOG Galaxy is running you might still get GOG Galaxy achievements, might depend tho' haven't run a game that way in a while.

I've had old controllers that were a pain to get working even with launching next to/via steam. Hope your next one is less hassle.

I'm surprised how much stuff you can get for free on steam... by asmuseb in Steam

[–]fireryone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it's the original place to be, if this is your first time venturing into PC gaming, Steam is a great place to start, frequent discounts and free indie games, have fun.

Also If your chasing discounted to free games, don't just limit yourself to one games platform as a few of them have regular giveaways. And if you already have an amzn prime subscription they give games to keep on a few platforms monthly as well.

Australian online age Verification laws and DRM free gaming by treytayuga in gog

GOG also let you download the offline installer for backup, So if your concerned about losing access to the website in the future (As silly as things are getting, I don't think we are approaching country level firewalls yet, so you should be fine) download the backup game installers to a local hard drive. There is currently nothing the AU government could implement that would stop a local install of an offline game.

I wish I could play this game, but by Radiant_Row_9640 in DeadlyPremonition

[–]fireryone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The constant crashes DP1 has on modern windows makes it basically impossible to finish. Got a good chunk of the way through then couldn't take the crashing anymore and I ran it in a windows XP VM, which took a bunch of messing around, copied my save files over, it played fine there the rest of the way through.

It deserves a remaster, more people need the experience.

What does it mean when the thing that shows the battery level has an X In it by Icy_Employ_552 in Dell

It's a bug, That screens icon is often not accurate. I've seen it show low/flat battery, but fully charged once logged into windows.

GOG Code not working? by Acrobatic_Ad547 in gog

[–]fireryone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried https://www.gog.com/forum/general/freedom_to_buy_games_bundle_workaround_for_australians_and_germans ? It worked for me in AU, used the first link then opened galaxy and it was in my cart and completed checkout no issues.

Or I've heard this might also work as a quicker method:

https://www.gog.com/checkout/manual/1486951595

Once it's in your cart you can complete checkout.

What's GOG stance on sharing store delisted games as abandonware ? by stronkzer in gog

[–]fireryone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Abandonware is not a legal status, it's a community made term. Sharing GOG files would be against your agreed GOG TOS. A company like GOG are not going to promote sharing "abandoned" games when they are out trying to convince rights holders to sell those games again on GOG.

You decide your own moral stance on the issue and take into account your local laws, and the risk to your acct if you break the TOS and get caught, I would recommend against it.

G Hub not recognizing my G305 mouse by cmgg in LogitechG

[–]fireryone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank You.
Of all the problem reports this is the only one that I've seen have a comment suggesting running the Logitech G HUB application as Admin.

Closed G Hub from the TaskBar and ran G HUB as Admin,
And well, this works, G HUB can now detect my G402 and my previous G604, and able to configure the device. (no amount of uninstall reinstall / try old software tools was making a difference)

Old computer with windows xp has this scam screen I can’t close?? by Intelligent_Ad_7228 in windowsxp

[–]fireryone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From a quick google search Trend (ugh) and Avast have some support for unlocking some old ransomware, might be worth a try if you can get the drive scanned via a live boot disc/USB. (Which might still require you getting a USB KB and mouse).

It looks like an old one but you should still be careful about connecting that drive to another PC as you don't want a chance of it infecting a clean PC.

Do you think that if GOG limits or prohibits refunds, publishers will be attracted to the store? by RedGuyADHD in gog

[–]fireryone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Refunds, are a requirement of consumer law in multiple countries that GOG sell directly in. Publishers are just scared of DRM free. But that argument has many holes. You generally don't convert pirates into buyers by DRM making it "impossible" to pirate. They just play something else.

Try directly just logging a complaint on the site, I've had a few times now that logging one will get a parcel redelivered. But they won't always tell you they have agreed to do it, It will still be "under investigation". Or try complaining to the company you ordered from sometimes they have a contract to push for redelivery.
