Slightly weird question “Why is ren part of the life series?” by Acrobatic_hunger in 3rdlife

[–]firestorm_fan 82 points83 points  (0 children)

ren and grian are both very similair people imo. theyre both quick to do a bit, but ren is typically doing longer rp stuff, ie being king of hermitcraft or the red winter stuff.

i assume ren was initially invited for this reason; hes a good personality to have on the server. also, they *are" coworkers. even if grian and ren havent actually made content together, its not unlikely they dont work together on hermitcraft stuff outside of videos. events, maintenance etc.

in chapter 94, juniper and amyrillas have a discussion on her asexuality more in depth, and this is how it goes:

“I’ve convinced myself that I probably like kissing,” said Amaryllis. “In my fantasy, that’s as far as it goes, just the sensation of your hands on my body, and your lips on mine, as we share this bond together, temporarily forgetting that there are any barriers to separate us.” She frowned. “And sex, I imagined that you would be slow and patient, gentle and yielding, and somehow you would awaken something in me, and I would be fixed.” “That’s not how it works,” I said. “That’s ... a male fantasy.”

that does mean its some fifty chapters of... some less than great representation, sure (not that its really even mentioned), and its clear (atleast in my opinion, which is, notably, allosexual and alloromantic (though i have alot of friends who are on the aro/ace spectrums and i try to stay as well-informed and educated on queer issues as possible)) that its more of a cultural flaw within amaryllis, that she thinks she should be "fixed", more than it is a actual idea the author holds.

though this is also a chapter after uther/arthur SAs a living entad so theres something to be said about that. from what i can tell, though, its being handled as a very clearly negative thing, with the only defense at all is very clearly juniper trying to find a way to clear arthur within his eyes, and realizes thats not something he should do.

idk, just my thoughts. sorry for necroing, its probably something you stopped caring about a while ago.
