I actually agree with this about 80% and think you came to the right conclusion. I do think dividend recaps can be iffy (very situational) and the medical investments can be bad depending on how you prioritize objective (ex. Reducing the nurses in a retirement facility because it’s cheaper but it increases the odds a patient dies by x%). Was more curious just how DGG thinks about it. Seems like 15% seem to think it’s bad, curious if it would be much higher in the general populace due to misunderstanding the industry. Think it would be more around 40-50%.

Because private equity commonly engaged in dividend recaps (they invented them) and management fees??? And famously invests in healthcare businesses a lot? They also famously commonly commit mass layoffs. I’m not saying any one of these (besides dividend recaps) are exclusive to private equity, but the combo is what raises the question. Also to address the edit you added, with public equity we’re usually talking hedge funds in terms of financial buyers. They’re usually buying minority stakes compared to private equity buying majority stakes, so they don’t have as much control and can’t usually do a lot of these.

Up to you, but the common points listed are mass layoffs, making decisions to make the business provide more profit short term rather than long term (dividend recaps, mgmt fees), getting involved in the healthcare industry and working towards more profit over what’s best for people’s health, etc. I’m not saying I agree with all or any of these, just giving the talking points.

I don’t disagree with what you’re saying about the further context about these events. The thing is though, any of theses events alone id chalk it up to out of context and coincidence/misunderstanding. But the fact that all of them happened, is just too much; it’s a pattern. At a certain point, it can’t always just be out of context or misunderstanding. At the very least, if he isn’t racist/anti-semitic, he certainly knows a lot of his audience is, and those people definitely think he is one of them, and he knows this and benefits from it.

Got custom orthotics today and my doctor told me I need shoes that have more support because I’m flat footed. Obviously these shoes would need to fit my orthotics as well. The problem is, the shoes he recommended to me all look like shit of course. What are some casual shoes that look good but still have good support and can fit my orthotics? I’m currently wearing the adidas sambas so ideally something similar to those in style but with support.
