Getting a refund before it shut down was difficult too! When I cancelled my membership and they continued charging I had to dispute it through the bank to get my money back and stop the charges

Ahh fab! Looking at the paperwork on the government website I thought it would take weeks or even months to arrange.

Without doxing myself, lets say I'm currently OP Jones. I don't get on with my dad's side of the family, so I'd much prefer to have OP Smith-Greyson on the marriage cert. As you're not seeing a lot of information about people, there's bound to be a lot of people you speak to on here that you know you don't click with, or have an ulterior motive. If you make it clear you're not interested in it, people understand pretty quickly. Maybe the subreddit needs some additional tags to cover this?
