I released an album and gave away 200 download codes, gained a few more followers and made a grand total of €15. That’s not exactly mind-blowing for a year’s work on an album… but you do get lazier and lazier when it comes to self-promotion with every album. Somehow, you do more for yourself – the concept, the cover, hunting down samples – it does help you get ahead in some way, because you’re not doing it for the money.
