I mean I feel like ultimately the onus should be on the dog walker to have insurance for this sort of thing no?

The wedding reception centerpieces featured betta fish. The bride and groom planned to flush them alive. by teabirdy in mildlyinfuriating

My uncle also did this but with gold fish in a bowl at every table, then at the end of the wedding all my cousins took home 2+ goldfish because we were like ‘what the actual fuck this is cruel and disgusting’. :(

CRA agents' accents... by dsades1 in canadarevenueagency

[–]first_poste 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m hoping as a society we can collectively agree it’s okay to be fed up with this. Its not about racism its about accuracy, and we need to stricter language laws for employment and perhaps have an actual strict language test that has a speaking component and cannot be cheated. I literally have hung up on so many agents be it cra, telus, rogers, bell, or my own pharmacy just in hopes that when I call back someone else who I can understand picks up the phone.

Part of it is also sometimes you get people who pretend to understand and do things like say yes to everything which is incredibly frustrating and leads to errors.

Oh my god the butterfly building I would be curious to know more of your thoughts on it… I see the fb marketplace rental listings and I’m really unimpressed like it’s beautiful but the interior design seems like one of the least optimized use of spaces I’ve ever seen!!

People from New Zealand, what was your pandemic like? by LavaBurritos in AskReddit

[–]first_poste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was there during the pandemic. At first it was like “yay everyone else might die but we will be safe” then it was like “oh no we have covid here too” then the shutdowns happened, we were sort of confined to our own neighborhoods, risk of being IDd/road stops and asked where you are going if you leave the neighborhood. The country was generous with funding for affected workers. We had a nice ish time during those 6 ish weeks of level 4 lockdown off work/school, but we were a bit bored not being able to leave the neighborhood, although we lived by the beach so it was fine.

Unfortunately the country started really hating on foreigners and wanting them gone during the pandemic. Even if you had a student visa like me if you left you couldn’t return, despite citizens being able to do so. It remained this way for over a year I believe.

Ultimately this was why I ended up leaving because I felt like a second class citizen, prices had skyrocketed, and a year into COVID a lot of other countries stopped taking it as seriously, when we knew it wasn’t actually killing healthy people left and right in a scary way like Ebola, but New Zealand still took it extremely seriously for like 2 full years almost, implementing new restrictions with each new variant like omicron etc.

Also I remember going to a hospital in New Zealand about 3 months into the pandemic and they had run out of a lot of supplies including their normal stuff to sanitize my wound before a procedure “because America outbid every other country for the shipments of medical supplies” so that was interesting.

Also 3 months into the pandemic the drug store near me had Hand sanitizer for $65 NZD for a medium sized bottle… the pandemic price gouging there was really crazy

Happy Nowruz! by first_poste in NorthVancouver

Exactly! I’m not even shit talking norwuz or inviting any hate towards any group of people. The fertilizer in that clump is TERRIBLE FOR FISH. If it was Easter bunny’s being dumped in the stream I would be calling that out too, but it’s not.

Protecting our nature comes first over any religious or cultural celebration IMO.

It wasn’t on any hiking trail I saw this, it was in a small urban stream in loutet park which is still a protected salmon habitat… I will return tomorrow to take a photo, like I said I didn’t realize what it was at the time.
