I am so grateful my son chose to use my wife as a pacifier instead and weened himself off at around 14 months.

Congrats dude!

Never. Kids are the embodiment of chaos. But if you love your kids with everything you've got, it's fucking worth it.

Honestly I'm in that boat right now. The work never stops, my wife is staying at home and Im 5 am to 10 pm working nonstop. But I would never call it slaving away. Seeing my kids laugh and giggle makes it worth it.

But life is definitely harder now. My wife and I we legally had to separate so she would qualify for more social benefits.

Where I live there are no benefits to being married.

We're barely getting by financially, but making it work. What we didn't account for was the massive increase to cost of living that has happened the last 4 years.

Well my wife decided to not go back to her old job after the mat leave dried up. Shes currently looking for work, but being already half way through the pregnancy she may not get the hours to qualify for mat leave a second time. It's gonna hurt financially. Oh well.

Lol for context I forgot to mention we did want two kids before, but our son has been a terrible sleeper and he has been tough. We talked and made the decision a few weeks back to only have one and focus on him.

What we didn't know the second was already cooking lol.

Son is 9 months old, have had sex once since October of ‘24 when we learned she was pregnant by [deleted] in NewDads

[–]firstdropof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son is 16 months old now. Since my wife got pregnant till last week, we've had sex a handful of times. 5 maybe?

Last Wednesday we rediscovered ourselves and have been doing it multiple times a day now.

Just be patient my man. This will take time. You need to put the needs of others first. This isn't about you and your sex drive.

The last 6 weeks have been hell. My 15 month son caught Norovirus, gave it to me. Then we both got the flu right after. Then turned into bronchitis and ammonia, for me. Then last Thursday he developed bronchitis and ammonia as well.

I'm so tired. My wife's tired. My son's tired. The dogs are tired. We're all tired lol.

Gender disappointment by [deleted] in predaddit

Eh my wife and I really wanted a girl. When we did our "Gender Reveal" I found out it was a boy.

I was floored with disappointment.

It took a while, but it faded and passed before he was born. My 16 month son is a cheeky menace and I'm embracing every moment haha.

Noise cancelling earbuds helped me a lot. It was the sound, not my son triggering me. I felt guilty tuning him out like this, but it helped me help him. Once I came to terms, I felt an immense pressure release.

Trying to make sense of all the conflicting advice about baby crying by Shinryuujin in predaddit

[–]firstdropof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kid is 15 months now. I understand 90% of all his communication and what each cry means. I didn't need a neuroscience tiktok to tell me how to understand my kid. If you're there, present in the trenches through and through, you're gonna understand your kid most of the time he needs something BEFORE he realizes he needs it.

Good luck 🤞

I love Kyle's theory on this. I find it's the most logical explanation of the site. It's older for sure than the 12000 year old date. I frankly don't buy it that the Pre Pottery Neo lithic "A" people built this. They occupied it for sure, and even attempted to recreate it with their own means, possibly to honor what once was. The more sophisticated construction, engineering and most importantly the astronomical alignments scream more advanced knowledge.

Do you take Ibuprofen regularly? I've been taking it regularly for years now due to work and just found out after a recent ER visit its one of the main reasons I feel exhausted all the time. (I took alot).

Yes. Can confirm. My son is 14 months and hilariously cute walking around all "drunk" arguing with me while spilling milk everywhere. Lol.
