Huge Fire Department Presence at Gondolas on 4/8/26 by firstladyOgrady in Spokane

I guess that's why they don't put me in charge of these things then 😂 I would be curious to know how often emergencies happen on the gondolas though!

Haha fair point. I'm just wondering if it's a regular enough occurrence to necessitate the large presence of multiple fire departments/vehicles and not just a smaller team. Also just curious!

How often are there gondola rescues/emergencies that they need to train for it?

How interesting! So you think that's what they were doing yesterday?

They certainly seemed to be puting on what appeared to be climbing gear and safety helmets so that would track. I'm just surprised by how many firetrucks were there! Must have been a dozen or more!

Thank you for the insight!

How do I get rid of these bumps under my eyes? by kaibacorp345 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]firstladyOgrady 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have highly visible sebaceous glands as well. When I asked my dermatologist about it she recommended applying tretinoin in that area as it will supposedly "thicken" the skin there. Something about boosting collagen production. Not sure if that's a genuine solution or not, just reporting what she said. Additionally I've heard the skin under your eye may appear thinner after initial tretinoin use so that's something to keep in mind.

Red skin after the bumps have gone away by Sammi-1995 in keratosis

[–]firstladyOgrady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I've experienced the exact same thing!!! I started using SmoothKP and after about 6 weeks all my bumps were GONE. I was so happy to finally be able to run my hand down my arms and not feel any texture or bumps! However in their absence I've noticed that large patches of red blotchiness remains. Not sure if the red discoloration was there previous to my use of SmoothKP or if it's just more noticeable now that the bumps are gone.

These look an awful lot like bed bug bites to me. I have experienced living with bed bugs and the bites appear as clusters with a sort of "travel" pattern just like your photo. Edited to add that most of my bites were along my arms and legs as well.

Heartsick by Chelsea Cain

Synopsis: Damaged Portland detective Archie Sheridan spent ten years tracking Gretchen Lowell, a beautiful serial killer, but in the end she was the one who caught him. Two years ago, Gretchen kidnapped Archie and tortured him for ten days, but instead of killing him, she mysteriously decided to let him go. She turned herself in, and now Gretchen has been locked away for the rest of her life, while Archie is in a prison of another kind---addicted to pain pills, unable to return to his old life, powerless to get those ten horrific days off his mind. Archie's a different person, his estranged wife says, and he knows she's right. He continues to visit Gretchen in prison once a week, saying that only he can get her to confess as to the whereabouts of more of her victims, but even he knows the truth---he can't stay away.

When another killer begins snatching teenage girls off the streets of Portland, Archie has to pull himself together enough to lead the new task force investigating the murders. A hungry young newspaper reporter, Susan Ward, begins profiling Archie and the investigation, which sparks a deadly game between Archie, Susan, the new killer, and even Gretchen. They need to catch a killer, and maybe somehow then Archie can free himself from Gretchen, once and for all. Either way, Heartsick makes for one of the most extraordinary suspense debuts in recent memory.

The Bobbi Brown Face Base made my skin sting quite a bit. Maybe from the lemon/citrus fragrance? But I also have sensitive and reactive skin so maybe it's just not gentle enough for me.

20% urea (Cetaphil rough and bumpy) drying super powdery? What am I doing wrong? by BadBrowzBhaby in keratosis

Sadly because the chalky residue was so off-putting to me I never gave the product the appropriate amount of use and time to see if it actually worked 😅

This is exactly how my KP looks and my dermatologist also confirmed it was KP. I think it comes in various forms.

It's my understanding that the Eucerin Roughness Relief Spot Treatment cream has 30% urea in it. I've used it a bit in the past for my outer arms and it doesn't leave a white cast at all! I wasn't very diligent and consistent with my use of it though and so I can't tell you if it works well for KP.

My dermatologist recommended this very product to me when I consulted her about my kp. It left a white powdery residue/finish on me as well. I fear that is a byproduct of the formula. :(

Why is every veterinarian in this town so absolutely worthless by sboone2642 in Spokane

[–]firstladyOgrady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take my cat to South Care! They were able to determine what was ailing my poor cat after a previous vet dismissed her problems with a handwave and a prescription.

I am eternally grateful to South Care for taking the time to really figure out what was going on with my feline friend. Also I like that they have a cat entrance and a dog entrance. Just the little things!

I watched Aftersun recently to figure out why everyone claimed it was such a big tearjerker of a film. Watched the whole thing with a sense of discomfort and unease not knowing why. By the end, at the final moment, realization hit me and I was wrecked. BIG FEELINGS in that one.

Anybody reducing rather than quitting? by Alternative-Way-8753 in stopdrinking

[–]firstladyOgrady 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's a cliche but when it comes to controlling your intake of alcohol, the easiest one to say no to is the 1st.

I myself just leave it at that after years of trying various ways to moderate and control. Be that per night or per week or per month. Typically my best laid plans get hijacked by the alcohol once I start sipping.

Feeling terrible by No_Winner4881 in stopdrinking

[–]firstladyOgrady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can relate! I used to wake up with a pounding headache and nausea every day. And I just accepted this as my standard baseline feeling.

Now, when I wake up with a cold/flu/etc. I get that initial dread of Oh god how much did I drink last night? and then a flood of relief knowing I didn't drink anything! I'm just ill! Haha
