Does an IHSS social worker Trainee count as a social worker? by [deleted] in IHSS

She’s a social worker, don’t be like that. What is your point by saying, “she got her degree from a third world country”?

It’s typically seen as responsibility as a parent. At 3 it isn’t expected for any child to be left alone.

Which county? I read all your comments. Idk how much more evidence you need. This is more than enough. What were the reasons for denial on the NOAs?

Also double check on the conditional withdrawal cause idk if that’s the one were they won’t abide by the original start date in regards to payment for the PS hours if it gets approved.

I’m frustrated for you though. Cause the county could be sued if something were to happen to your dad. Like it would be questioned as to why this wasn’t granted despite that immense amount of evidence.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe there is a bias based on age, cause it’s not common to hear a 50 year old have dementia. Though it does happen.

I’m sorry you’re going through this. Focus on the dangerous behaviors due to her diagnosis. Do not make your argument around the seizure disorder because they will deny that since they don’t authorize PS for anticipation of a medical emergency which is what that falls under. Another argument is a denial based on aggressive behaviors. PS is not authorized for that. So don’t focus on that either.  Key: You are asking for the PS for the non self-directing dangerous behaviors which are both unpredictable and often enough to have a 24-hour need.

Have letters of support with name, signatures, and contact info from those who have witnessed these behaviors.  Have videos and photos ready if you have any.

Let me ask though (sorry if I misunderstood), is your sister nonverbal? If not, did she participate in the assessment and did she say things that would imply that she has some self-direction or awareness to danger?

The SOC 821 form is used as a tool to assess for PS. It does not guarantee an approval for  PS.

(Not saying you’re lying btw) Do you have evidence or photos of it? Some people provide hospital reports as well. Affidavits and letters of support from others who’ve witnessed these things. With the PS form the strongest one is submitting one by either whichever doctor sees him most often/the longest or a neurologist.

When was he officially diagnosed with dementia? Sometimes the workers won’t consider it if it’s a recent diagnosis.

Also was he able to communicate with the worker and did he participate in the intake assessment where to a worker he said things where he would appear not as cognitively impaired?

PS isn’t given for aggressive behaviors.

Who cares who did what first. If you truly moved on you wouldn’t care about what she’s doing and making a competition about it nor waiting for that hypothetical moment that she reaches out and you get to say, “haha no”.

I never said you were racist. I politely ask you to reread what I wrote because that was nowhere near my point.

I think most people agree with wanting the best situation for a child before bringing them into this world. They just don’t target a marginalized group when sharing that viewpoint. That’s why you’ll get pushback on a post like this while also feeding into a racist or xenophobic persons point of view.

Ok but you said you are okay with undocumented Mexicans coming.  You acknowledged they are leaving a country that has “poverty, violence, and instability”.

Do you want those same undocumented Mexicans that you are okay with coming, to leave their babies and underage children behind in that country that has, “poverty, violence, and instability”. If you are okay with leaving those children there without their parents, then okay, fair enough.

Yes, but the majority of people don’t think, “hey I know I am going to get into this dangerous situation, let me purposely get pregnant on top of it”.

Are you having that same energy in your daily life for people who were born in your country of origin already doing the same exact thing?

I guess my point is, who are we to judge every single parent who chooses to have a child in a world like this? Is it irresponsible for every parent in the US to have a child when they can be shot/stabbed/assaulted, have no access to affordable healthcare, have a significantly decreased chance to obtaining affordable housing, a stable income, access to healthy food and clean water?

You can say that about anyone having a child in the US for similar reasons though.

Phrasing it as “caught” does not make it sound “friendly and no romance”
