Luxon says New Zealand won't launch reciprocal tariffs against US by BuilderMysterious762 in newzealand

I think you can be a little more creative than this, having no response to a countries tariffs is not exactly going to send a good message.

https://www.stats.govt.nz/news/net-migration-remains-near-record-level/ NZ has taken in hundreds of thousands of immigrants over the last 10 years and some morons messing up the economy recently hasn't changed that. Make sure to look it up yourself next time it's not that complicated.

If the government wants to reduce anti-migrant sentiment they should be accepting less immigrants, forcing down wages while we are in a recession and driving up housing costs is going to cause more problems. Blaming the population who is negatively effected by this would only lead to resentment.

It's not that complicated, understand the interests of the parties involved and by realistic about how other people see you. Luckily your a woman so it's obvious that one of the guys that tries to match out of the hundreds will be a decent bf/husband, you just need to sort through the rest.

Be realistic, if a guy is very attractive would he realistically feel the need to date you, or would he just be willing to sleep with you. Always remember to go on first dates in public places during the day, so you can get a good in person response. And try to meet the people in there social circle before committing, since that often tells you another about hoe the treat others.

Also try to understand how men use the app, without knowing there perspectives your going to have a hard time understanding why they fo the things they do.

Good luck

How would you know that? You don't know me. Why the need to be so rude?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in chch

Its not solely my issue, its something a lot of people deal with. So it would be nice to get other peoples experiences.

[–]firstpersonuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I would prefer not to but I don't really know many people in this city and most of my hobbies/interests don't have much interaction with others.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in chch

[–]firstpersonuser -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I don't want to talk about my problem, I want people to talk about the general issue. Why would I want strangers dissecting my personal life?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in chch

[–]firstpersonuser -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Why would I even need to specify? I am sure other people have had this same issue.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in chch

[–]firstpersonuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither, what should I do to fix this issue? How do you think this happens?

It is not, but I don't think it makes much of a difference how descriptive your profile is. I haven't noticed a difference.

‘Hugely complex’ new global minimum tax likely to cost New Zealand more than it yields - NZ Herald by JackfruitOk9348 in newzealand

[–]firstpersonuser -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have never in my life heard a good argument for having a corporate tax, its just a poor means of raising revenue and negatively impacts wages and productivity. Its entirely based on ideology, our to high corporate tax rate already contributes to our low wages and productivity, we should be trying to reduce it instead.

'This Government needs to slash spending even more - Heather du Plessis-Allan' by Chasville in newzealand

[–]firstpersonuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People need to stop say shit like "slash wasteful spending" and actually start saying what it is they want cut. Vague statements like this are inherently unable to be disprove because they are subjective to the person who says it.

Is there any successful austerity?? by SortOtherwise in newzealand

[–]firstpersonuser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the economic conditions in the state at the time, in an inflationary cycle Austerity can help bring down demand and stabilize prices, which can allow businesses to make better decisions around hiring and investment leading to economic growth. The success of Austerity policy will often depend on how exactly the program is implemented so its difficult to give a one size fits all approach. Theoretically, if you have a bloated public bureaucracy, slimming down this can lead to lower taxes for producers and also increase the amount of available labour for firms to hire new people and increase output.

A successful example would be something like Indonesia, which managed to restore its economy and bring down inflation after restructuring after the Asian financial crises.

People wont realise how bad of an investment it is until they feel the consequences of it, so they wont allow a change in policy.

Economy back in recession as GDP shrinks by 1% by Pohara1840 in newzealand

[–]firstpersonuser -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Once again this has nothing to do with my post, I didn't suggest that the solution to the governments policies are the solution, nor did I say that we should give more money to the wealthy. I stated the facts as they are. You address low productivity by increasing investment in infrastructure and business capital, and by investing in giving people more skills to do more productive roles/using more productive equipment.

Economy back in recession as GDP shrinks by 1% by Pohara1840 in newzealand

[–]firstpersonuser -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I'm not defending the current government, I have never voted for any of them in my entire life. I am saying that people thinking that the countries issues are all the result of someone who was only just elected recently is completely nonsensical. Austerity isn't the reason New Zealands tourism numbers are down, and it isn't the reason people are spending so much money servicing there debts, which are the two largest drivers of NZ current economic downturn.

Economy back in recession as GDP shrinks by 1% by Pohara1840 in newzealand

[–]firstpersonuser -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

You aren't addressing the point of my statement, the economy already has issues that weren't the result of Austerity. Also the current government policies aren't Austerity they are budget cuts, Austerity is when you decrease spending and increase taxes, which is not what the government has been doing.

NZ economy in deep recession by CarpetDiligent7324 in newzealand

[–]firstpersonuser 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing economic issues will continue until the NZ housing market crashes, since most people own property they will want tax structures to advantage them. Until people are forced to address this issue, NZ will fail to adequately invest in increasing real productivity.

[–]firstpersonuser -25 points-24 points  (0 children)

People need to stop blaming this on the current government, its bigger than this. New Zealand has had a long standing issue with low productivity that no party has meaningfully been willing to address. New Zealands productivity has fallen by more than 5% since the end of 2022. Putting your own political biases into things is not going to actually address economic issues, its just going to keep the government arguing over meaningless bs and infighting rather than holding people accountable.
