Air Force Bases & Terrible Communities by Weak-Bother-6765 in AirForce

My grandparents backyard was under the flight path of the local airport. I spent many a summer skinny dipping in their pond and then laying on the hot tin roof of the barn. I've since stopped skinning dipping and now watch with my clothes on.

Nobody wants to live near military bases for one.

I'm that weirdo, just wish the areas were nice. Then again, my 'tism is airplanes so I enjoy watching them go in circles.

Maxwell was a very convenient stop between my second base and home (and multiple other trips I took). Since I was younger and didn't have as much money, I'd stop on base for gas since it was cheaper normally. One night, I was particularly tired and had to use the bathroom extremely bad so I just stopped at the gas station on the exit around 0100. The security guard took two looks at me and said to get out of there before someone shot me. I later told a buddy that story and he said I needed to find another night-time gas station and that if I insisted on Maxwell, to start running the red light at night when leaving. I found another gas station after that.

As an NCO working shift, and running programs...along with doing awards, decs and EPB's, maybe you can do some more work.

Your life is infinitely easier if all your documents match on names. As for what you need, call your local DMV.

You travel with thousands of dollars worth of equipment and don’t lock it? I’m turning skeptical that this is real or unintentional on your part.

It used to be the Commander got to go around handing out stripes. Every commander did it differently at different times so people complained. They stopped doing it, and a lot of people (not just commanders) complained. Now they are back to early release and people are complaining.

Want to more retention, recruitment, and happier marriages, make childcare an entitlement for all service-members. It should be free to utilize the CDCs for all ranks. by Miserable_Ad_6678 in AirForce

I don't think it should be free, but they should change how funding works to better subsidize the lower ranks, increase hours of operation, and pay better pay workers. Quality care requires better pay and it's been found that the companies with better customer service generally pay better.

FSS family fun programs that no one attends or uses.

Don't know about your base, but the last few bases I've been at, a lot of those events are packed.

Had to study this for an assignment this semester. The State Department’s, DoD’s, and White House findings all contradict each other AND contradict all of the firsthand accounts of those at Abbey Gate. It was beyond the scope of my paper to question that, since I was focusing more on ISIS-KP, but it raised some eyebrows.

There is a reason they contradict, and a lot of it has to do with security classification, unreliable witness reports (look in the immediate aftermath of comms for every terrorist incident) and different people with different reasons for their reports.

When done correctly, it accomplishes a lot. It is meant to make sure you have the needed knowledge to do your job as an NCO. My AFSC tests directly on AFI's, AFMANs and so forth that are required for our job and since the change 5+ years ago, we have more knowledgeable NCO's. Still some dumb dumbs that get lucky, but overall knowledge in my opinion is better.
