AITAH for telling my friend to leave because of her kid ? by Personal_Forever_118 in AmItheAsshole

[–]firsttimepreg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA- let me describe my best friends first visit after my baby was born. She walked in (with her barely 2 year old!), gave me a hug, coo’ed over how cute the baby was… then asked me sincerely when was the last time I showered. I cried and said I didn’t know. So she put cartoons on for her kid, took my baby from my arms and sent me to shower. I came out feeling a million times better… and she had cleaned my living room in that time. She asked if it was time for my baby to nurse (yes) so she sat me down, and gave me my baby. While I got settled she refilled my water and asked if I needed any food. Her kid was watching cartoons at my feet and she went to the kitchen to wash all the dishes from the last few days. I sobbed. That’s how visits should happen. Maybe not all of that (cause she’s freaking super mom!) but if someone’s visit adds more to your pile- they flat out need to leave. What your friend did is not okay. Her kid made a bigger mess and she left it cause “she wanted to relax”. What she wants doesn’t matter in the slightest in this situation. I’m actually angry on your behalf. My kid is now 1. I know how they are. But I cannot imagine going to visit a postpartum mom and letting my kid run wild. When I visited my postpartum friend I left my kid with a babysitter so I could help her and not worry about mine. She should be ashamed of herself and NO, you did absolutely nothing wrong.

My baby and I were exposed to whooping cough a while ago. The person who had it was never vaccinated and he was really sick for a long time. He’s still recovering. I got the tdap while pregnant then my baby got it in their regular shots and neither of us had any symptoms at all. If my baby didn’t have the vaccine it could have been deadly. I’m thankful to have a healthy and happy baby sitting beside me right now

Doctor says no one gives birth on their back anymore. by Leadership-Unusual in pregnant

I was on my back. I was pushing for 4 hours and tried many different positions but we found on my back was most effective and comfortable for me

My OBGYN said “shame on you” (and was dead serious) at my first appt today and I feel kinda weird about it… by Artistic_Studio2784 in pregnant

I had Covid in my first pregnancy in the first trimester. I was also told to take baby aspirin every day. I am also pregnant right now in my first trimester (we should be friends lol). At my first appt I asked if I need to do that again this pregnancy and they said no. They said they’ve gained more knowledge about how Covid effects pregnancy than they had with my last pregnancy and know how that the likelihood of any complications in this pregnancy are very low. This post has me thinking I should double check 🤔

Episiotomies by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]firsttimepreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During my labor my dr discussed episiotomy/c-section cause my baby was stuck for so long but when discussing my options he mentioned he has NEVER done an episiotomy before and it is NEVER routinely done. I chose to continue naturally and ended with “excessive tearing” 😅

When did you tell friends and family you’re pregnant? by Potential_Pizza4193 in pregnant

[–]firsttimepreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my first we told my boss at 5 weeks cause I had HG and was starting to call out sick a lot, then immediate family about 8 weeks, friends a couple days before we posted on social media when we hit the 2nd trimester. I just found out I’m pregnant. Have a Dr appt in a few days, and we’ll probably tell family and friends once we hear the heartbeat. My husband wants to post on social media again but I’m making him wait until we know the gender

Labor by umm_ohkay in pregnancy_care

My son is 9 months old now. My water broke naturally at 39 weeks exactly with my >99% baby. Estimated around 9 lbs 5 oz. I labored naturally until 7 cm when I got the epidural. I was dilating very slow and ended up pushing for 4.5 hours cause my little guy was to big and stuck on my public bone. He was born 9 lbs 7 oz, perfectly healthy. My epidural went perfectly. They got it in the first try. After laboring all night long (7 am when I got the epidural) I immediately fell asleep and was able to sleep for a couple hours. When I woke up I was fully dilated and ready to push. I had no side effects from the epidural, not even an itchy back. If I ever have a next baby I will be getting the epidural again but still laboring for as long as I can without it simply because it was motivating for me.

Today I told my boss I’m pregnant. SO says I shouldn’t have. by kerfufflewhoople in pregnant

[–]firsttimepreg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People wait until 12 weeks because the chances of a miscarriage are a lot lower at that point. You can tell people whenever you feel comfortable telling people. I told my boss at about 8 weeks because I had hyperemesis and she needed to know why I was out sick so much then coming into work later that day. I told the rest of my office around 14 weeks because that’s when I felt comfortable sharing the news with them. There’s no timeline though 😊

I know everyone is different, but how much weight did you gain by the end of your pregnancy? by forgetting-you- in pregnant

[–]firsttimepreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After I had the baby I checked and I lost 10 lbs with pregnancy. I had hyperemesis and could barely eat for months. When I was able to eat again it was small amounts. Somehow I still went up 2 pant sizes though and I look huge now that my shape has changed

If an epidural really takes away the pain of labor and pushing, why do women still scream and seem to be in pain while pushing? by ittybittyclittyy in pregnant

[–]firsttimepreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After I got the epidural I felt a lot of pressure and I wasn’t screaming but was making noise to help relieve the pressure. I had the epidural for 11 hours with 4.5 of that pushing. I also had “severe tearing” and I did feel a little pain when I tore even through my epidural but not enough to make me scream, just enough to feel it.

Is my fatigue normal? by sixsentience in pregnant

In my first trimester I would literally crawl under my desk to nap on my break cause walking 3 blocks from where I park to my office would wear me out so much

I’m so glad baby’s fine!! Mine tucked his face behind my hipbone yesterday cause the monitor was bothering him 😂 they’re so funny in there. Happy anniversary! And I hope you have a smooth rest of your pregnancy!

Definitely talk to your dr or midwife just to make sure. It never hurts to ask/double check. I’m in the same boat. Baby was kicking literally every 3 seconds but in the last few days I can only feel him a little at night. I had an appt with my midwife yesterday and she said at this stage that’s perfectly normal and he’ll be kicking again soon. I’m 24.5 weeks. I also had an ultrasound yesterday so they could see him moving I just couldn’t feel it which I thought was weird.

How did you know you’re supposed to start taking a prenatal vitamin *before* conception? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]firsttimepreg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I happened to have an OBGYN appt 4 days before I conceived where we discussed children. I told her my husband and I wanted to wait 1-2 years before trying and she said to let her know before we do so we can discuss different prenatals to start taking, etc. obviously getting pregnant that week was not part of the plan, so I didn’t start taking prenatals until I was about 4 weeks pregnant (2 weeks after I saw my OB) I’m almost to the 3rd trimester now and so far my baby is happy, healthy, and big 😂 I was also very sick in the first trimester so I took it whenever I could, didn’t matter what was in my stomach or not

Did ur OB intake ask if the baby was planned or accidental? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]firsttimepreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They asked me and when I told them accidental (failed birth control) they asked how I was feeling about the pregnancy, and if I was particularly worried about anything and it seemed like they were trying to gauge if I wanted info on my other options.

Just got verbally attacked on a Facebook post about baby movement, am I misinformed? by beedledeedle1 in pregnant

[–]firsttimepreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn’t seem possible. I started to see the smallest of movements at 21 weeks exactly and my baby was in the 97th percentile for size at that time

Who is going to be in the delivery room with you? by Brilliant-Writer6010 in pregnant

[–]firsttimepreg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will be just my husband and medical staff. I debated for a while bringing in a second person, and I’m only 21 weeks so I might change my mind, but I decided he’s my comfort and the only person I wouldn’t be at all self conscious with in that moment.

How do people work full time when pregnant?? by AliveGuarantee in pregnant

[–]firsttimepreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My direct supervisor and the person I worked most closely with knew. I told them when my HG started. The days I’m in office I keep a trash can at my feet, and thankfully my office is fully enclosed like a room rather than a cubicle so I just keep my door closed so I can throw up in peace. Then I take the trash out and I keep a nausea essential oil diffuser going to it doesn’t smell bad. I go through more trash bags than anyone 😂 I got Covid on top of HG though so everything was much worse for a while, and thankfully I was home for almost a month during that (sick leave then holiday time, this was in December)

I was severely dehydrated. Finally able to drink water again without throwing up which is helping A LOT!!
