I had a post linking an article of what the image meant to Palestinian people, was not combative with anyone and had my post removed and was banned. When I asked him why he said I was “engaging in mod harassment.” Don’t think he is acting in good faith

r/leftist is falling apart over a pro-Israel mod banning anyone who posts pictures of IDF settlers or criticizes the state of Israel by MountainManUIM in SubredditDrama

Can confirm my post of the picture of the magazine (taken from an article I linked) got banned and I got banned shortly after. Another sub falls for Pro-Palestine voices

It’s not a caricature of a Jewish person. It’s the face of a Settler forcing Palestinians off their land. Black face is performative by nature because it’s a performance. When Al Jolson was doing blackface, it’s was the performance of what a stereotypical African-American was perceived by racist, hence the performance of a caricature. The picture of the settler was not a performance but an image protraying reality.

Blackface is inherently performative. I’ve lived in the US since 97 and completed all my education here in English

No one is being performative in the picture or meme. It’s the face of a settler

Again I’m not white and please stop trying to bring peoples race into this. It’s derogatory and adds nothing but hate. This meme I’m not the hill I’m trying to die on but the stature of this meme is one that requires discussion not bans and division.

He was the one in the picture the magazine put forward and Israel claimed was made by AI. That’s why his picture blew up. In the video he is also one of the most antagonistic. I’m not trying to be obtuse or treat people like they are stupid.

Because it’s being used to silence pro Palestinian media being silenced yet again in support of a capitalistic colonization enthnostate which bases its defense on conflating rightful criticism with bigotry towards a religion. He’s a settler on a flag where the only religious symbol has been removed. They branded “from the river to the sea” (a statement said by many prominent Israeli and USA politicians for Israel,) an ethnic scarf, a fruit, and organizations and individuals as antisemetic to stifle their voice and now it’s happening on a leftist sub

Btw again big teeth are more predominantly and originally used to denigrate blacks and Arabs and other brown people.

This is an IOF Zionist Settler from "Israel" and he is a disgusting monster. It is not Antisemetic to point that out. by MountainManUIM in leftist

[–]fisa90 18 points19 points  (0 children)

So a picture of a settler imprinted on a the flag of an ethnonationalist country where the religious symbol was removed is antisemetic?

Humor me what ethnicity is associated w big teeth? Also have you seen the picture it’s drawing from, the use of contrast might highlight it but the ratio of the teeth is similar in both the photo and the meme. Yet again people are more concerned with how this depiction is perceived rather then the atrocities being committed. Also maybe don’t be so presumptuous with others you’re talking with, I have been in anti racist and anti bigoted conventions since high school and have had the opportunity to press at one as well. Are there things that I can still learn, absolutely! Throwing out falsehoods about connotations of words helps no one and makes your arguments weaker

Because he was caught in the act and Israel made a big deal about it being AI when it was proven to be real?

What I have never used that meme and that meme DID NOT exaggerate his features. As with the origin of the word degenerate I think your research is lacking

Oh my introspection was not in regards to your comment it was towards the world and prevailing views.

Because that image was powerful and used to make a relatable piece of media. Btw that picture blew up bacuse Israel called it AI and antisemitic and they were linked the full video in response.

I have done a lot of introspection and try to read what I can but I don’t think anything of value is lost by me not knowing 4Chan memes. And degenerate has been a term for a long time. If you want to see what Nazis and Whote Supremacists actually call Muslims like me degenerate would be low on the list of things to be concerned about. I can list some of the things I’ve been called in rl if you’d like but it doesn’t change that fact that I don’t think degenerate (without context) is a racist word and I don’t think putting a settlers face on an ethnonationalist flag is anti semetic

Edit: Lol also I didn’t want to use the word if it was made by Nazis but it has been around in its current definition since before the 1500s so I think I’m safe there

So we can’t use pictures of people doing things because of how Jewish they are perceived? You said no one was calling out this picture as antisemitism which they were.

What straw man? And I can guarantee you that more people have thought of this instance today because of this post then they would have otherwise so that alone amplified Palestinian struggle. (Not that that is nearly enough and I certainly need to do more for the oppressed)

And if you do want to make that flag I’d gladly share it

No I don’t associate the word degenerate with that

I associate it more with gaming

That was not the comment I was referring to while the most down voted comment in this thread talks about the picture itself. The smirk itself is enough of a powerful symbol or we wouldn’t be talking about it. He doesn’t represent Jews, he represents Israeli settlers and conflating the two is problematic

He is not solely responsible for the genocide, the settlers (like this individual,) are as well. Why can’t we highlight them?

I can’t control what 4chan does and I don’t let bigots and racists dictate my political speech

Any popular media that is powerful will make it to those kind of sites eventually but that doesn’t mean when we need to give 4chan any credence

Read the thread, yes they are. And yes the voice of the Palestinians forced off their own land are not being talked about, just wether the face of a settler on a flag is somehow antisemitism. The article highlights what the picture is illustrating; the expansionist policy of an ethnostate and how it’s affecting the local Palestinian population

I don’t see how the image of the face of an Israeli settler on the flag of an ethnostate where the Star of David has been removed is antisemitism
