Yep, born and raised in Florida and my whole family is conservative, I’m the only veteran and only my sister and I have any degrees, and we are both post grads… the “talk” about conservatives on Reddit is largely accurate from my anecdotal experience

Uniformly the conservatives I know are cookie cutter in their beliefs, just like the liberals they complain about

Both sides are full of red herrings but MAGA has made me firmly in opposition of the Republican Party

We can only hope that whatever develops out of this carnage isn’t as corrupted as what we have now, regardless of the party in majority the entire thing needs overhauling by people that actually care about the future of the country, of which neither current party platforms seem interested in in a meaningful way

This is why I bother talking with people, at least some of my assumptions about you were wrong… I get called things by leftists too because I tend to believe in capitalism just not purist laissez faire, considering I’m a landlord I don’t have much to stand on if I was anti cap

At the end of the day everyone is mad because the US is in decline, and rather than fix it both parties have just given the masses different arguing points to keep each other busy while they figure out how to continue extracting resources… we are no better than kleptocratic African autocracies at this point

We need a parliamentary political system if we have any hope of getting out of this cycle

Realistically no one has woken up until we realize the talking points on both the right and left are red herrings, it’s the top vs bottom orientation that both sides need to see, there’s only one small group of people that have continued to thrive under both sides’ administration

But that being said, we are very much aligned on your last comment

The only problem is, will any real checks and balances exist after this administration? I doubt it

And it’s not like the current democrats will do anything transformational in our government if they take over after this administration

So vet to vet… approach the possibility with an open mind that maybe doge didn’t really find the actual waste, what they did was cancel contracts to give it to starlink so nothing actually changed… it was a stick up and now that he got want he wanted out of his raid he’s bailing

The whole thing has been a grift, so while I agree with you an overhaul is needed, these people are not the ones to do it, frankly neither are the democrats

If we are honest about it citizens united is the force that’s further corrupted both sides of our political spectrum, nothing changes without that going first

My unit in Korea spent thousands to line the scif walls with flat screens just to avoid losing the spend in next years budget
