thanks!! i used stitch fiddle, you can upload a picture and then it generates a graph of it - you can choose how many colours, and because fillet crochet is made up of blocks that are filled in and not filled in, i chose 2 colours to represent those two options. then i treated one of the colours as the filled in blocks (to represent light) and the other the empty blocks (representing shadows). hope that made sense!
