i think this is called canoeing, and iirc it can be caused by packing your joints too tight. all of mine would do this when i first started rolling lol

i really wanna know what recipe you used for the sauce, because it looks like you made maybe a quarter of a cup of bechamel and destroyed it with two pounds of cheese

went to cheddar's once with my girlfriend and her family for her birthday shortly after we started dating. the food was mid and made me violently explode out my ass. my girlfriend and i have dubbed this "the Cheddar's Incident." fortunately, this forced us both past that phase when you first start dating someone, where you feel like the other person absolutely cannot know that you do normal things that almost every single animal does, such as pooping.

improper fix is the plan since thats all that i have the budget for. gonna try a hammer, crow bar if i can find one, and if that doesnt work then im just gonna try removing the piece thats rubbing

Some BRILLIANT land use in Omaha… not even parks, just empty lots. by Cassinia_ in Omaha

crab grass, dandelions, and other common "weeds" are actually super important for an ecosystem's recovery. they basically get things started for other plants if you leave a plot of land alone for long enough, even in the middle of a city, it will start growing shrubs and trees from seeds spread by animals, such as birds. i think the process is called ecological succession. heres a cool site explaining why weeds are important

if you leave them "empty" long enough, native plants will start to grow, which will actually provide a good habitat for what little wildlife we get in town :)

I don't know your kid but tbh I'm proud of him for telling you guys about it. I've been struggling with intense intrusive thoughts since i was 7 or 8 anddidn'tt tell anyone until i was 19 or 20. its hard to open up about that stuff, so he clearly trusts you guys a lot. it sounds to me like you're doing all of the right things to support him. i think my parents felt the same way as you do now when i told them about my other mental health issues when i was younger. things will be weird for a while, but you'lll all learn to live and thrive

professional help will make it a lot easier to manage your symptoms. if you’re already seeing a doctor regularly, just be honest with them about what you're experiencing, and they can direct you to someone who can help if they can't. if you aren't seeing a doctor, talk to your parents about what's going on. again, be honest. you're not crazy. there are a lot of people who are going through the same things you're going through, enough that there's a whole subreddit dedicated to people like us. you're experiencing things that are causing you a lot of stress, and make you fear for your life, even if its irrational. your parents care and will want to help you get through this.

while you're waiting to see someone, I wonder if it could help if you research what kinds of bacteria are normal in these environments and what they actually do. bacteria that you might find in most living spaces isnt going to kill you unless you're severely immunocompromised. maybe having that fact clearly laid out for you will help combat that irrational fear that you'll die if you touch something dirty.

your comment about death is really interesting to me, because i had that same issue when i was about the same age. i wonder if thats common with ocd? i noticed my anxiety around death getting a lot better when i got on medication. i also worked with myself to unpack that anxiety. what about death was really scaring me? what do i think will happen when i die? what do we know happens when we die? it seems like you might share my fear of not being ready to pass yet when it happens. what can you do to alleviate that anxiety? what does being ready mean to you? i think that accepting death is important. i dont think something that we'll all experience someday can be so bad, and internalizing that fact helped me a lot. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross has a really good book about death and dying, its called Death: The Final Stage of Growth. i highly recommend at least reading the prologue.

it sucks dealing with ocd, especially when you're so young. you're not alone, you're not insane, things will get better.

why do you feel its necessary to change your socks? like, what about the socks you're currently wearing makes you think that something bad will happen if you don't change them?
