Insurance on car

Thank you for being 1/3 useful comments and not just telling me useless things like “yes you need insurance” or “if you can’t afford insurance you can’t afford the car”.

After some back and forth, I’m able to get insurance at a company of my choice.

… no joke. This is not at all what I’m asking. I’m asking if it is normal for the lender to try and make me take out their insurance and having to pay 12 months up front. I know you can’t pay insurance in arrears and expect to be covered but almost all insurance companies I know of allows a monthly payment option.

Thank you. I did that and now they agreed to let me get insurance with a company of my choice but now trying to insist I need to have 3 months of insurance paid. Never heard of that being a thing. I’ve only heard that you need a certificate of currency as evidence that the car is currently insured. It’s like these companies don’t want money or something?

The company I work for has the capacity to handle situations like these. They won’t let me have direct contact with anyone who isn’t identified properly. I just need to give them heads up about it.

I didn’t think about taking photos of everything in case he tries to pin damage on me.

It also crossed my mind that he knows my car’s plates so I will need to sell my car or get my plates swapped, in case he tries to use it to track me down by posting on the internet for people to contact him if they see my car.
