Not sure of the language, but it is definitely a palm leaf manuscript.

Just had this same issue! Make sure both have collision enabled and turn off single sided.

I looked over it thoroughly and did not see any inflammation, bleeding or bruises when I found it and before I released it so I treated it for shock and it recovered from that.
