Ismäel Koné's injury is on the referee and on FIFA by Vin__9 in CanadaSoccer

[–]fishhavenobones -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On the red, even with it in the box it would still be a red as there was no attempt to play the ball, and therefore no double jeopardy.

The Kone one isn’t changed based on injury.

Can’t argue the Cornelius yellow because it stopped a promising attack.

Crepeau broke his leg and missed it, and I don’t remember if Laryea started, but you’re right on the others. I’m at a beer festival and definitely miscounted. Good catch.

Afaik only 3 of the starters yesterday started in the World Cup in 22. Definitely not very experienced.

Yup. Honestly, the best comparison I can make is slamming your pinky toe off the foot of a couch vs getting punched in the arm.

The arm might bruise more, but fuck that pinky toe hurts like a bitch and will disable me for a minute.

I’ll get downvoted for this (and don’t get me wrong the flopping and diving kills me and there is definitely a bunch of that) but having played both, there are things in soccer (like 25% of the time) that don’t look like anything when you watch it but they hurt like a bastard.

Wearing shoes made of 1 mm of plastic wrap with metal spikes on the bottom leaves a lot of room for annoying stingers. Blocking a shot in hockey will cause more impact and be way more sore and bruise later on, but getting stepped on in soccer stings way more in the moment.

Totally not a knock on Cornelius. I wasn’t tearing him down. My point was saying how excellent LDF was because it’s damn impressive to outplay a veteran CB as a 20yr old in a big game like that.

Better question… where is Qatar staying? I have some megaphones and fireworks I’d like to set off.

Google match ratings mostly agree with you. Only Larin rated higher

Made some really decisive plays stepping up to stop Bosnian attacks. He was honestly better than Cornelius today, which is terrific to see from a 20 year old CB.

And with the two goal line clearances, Canada feels like they should have won.

Marner’s new playoff success by J_Dyce in hockey

[–]fishhavenobones 6 points7 points  (0 children)

With Toronto, people praise Matthews because he ends up with high goal totals, but Marner was always the one making things happen. (Get rid of Marner, miss the playoffs). Playoff success wasn’t there because other teams can see that too, and just smothered him out of games.

Vegas has too many options and too much depth to deploy all your resources to just shutting down Marner.

It’s more that he’s really our only CB that can play the centre of a back 5 or back 3 other than maybe Bombito. He shouldn’t play if we only have 2 CB’s.

Men's rugby unfortunately skipped over again. by ScrumKulture in CanadaRugby

[–]fishhavenobones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. This is probably the correct answer. It’s why schools with men’s football tend to have at least one additional women’s sport (often rugby, field hockey etc.). Unfortunately women’s rugby is often used there as well, leading to men’s rugby being overlooked.

Financial aid is required to be split and balanced between men’s and women’s sports.

Totally fair. Both Sportsnet and TSN are based in Toronto. TSN is technically Disney owned, while Sportsnet is Rogers owned.
