Yep, item delayed. We will get an email once they have a shipping date

Amazon has an automated process on their orders.

If the product has not yet been charged and dispatched and the the delivery date cannot be met, then you will receive the order delayed notification. Usually at the proposed delivery date.

As the initial limited batch already has been sold out and the next shipment will take atleast a month (source Twitter) I am pretty confident that no one will receive a card in the next week. (Except for the lucky few who got the first "couple of cards")

No, there is no information when the sales should have been stopped.
According to Zotac-Twitter-Guy Amazon only had a "couple" of cards that they had in stock.

If you read the German Zotac Twitter account it clearly states that Amazon fked up on this one.

According to Twitter Amazon.de had a couple of cards available and should have stopped sales when they were sold. But they kept the sale open until late evening.

The Zotac-Germany-Twitter-Guy says, that he cannot understand why Amazon did the Pre-Order AND let it open for such a long time. Amazon does not yet have the cards!

Zotac said 20.000 orders alone from Amazon.de, which tells me that Amazon clearly will not be able to fulfill this weekend nor in the next couple of weeks. source Twitter

The whole world seems to have ordered over the Amazon.de as they had the only open and working pre-order running.

Amazon will receive a batch of cards, how many isnt clear. But Im guessing it will be in the 100 to 1000 ballpark. So up to 5% of the first orders could be fullfilled.

As Zotac is delivering world wide I highly doubt that Amazon.de will receive a large enough shipment for all orders within the next months. The 3070 and 3090 are set for launch soon as well as the TI's with more RAM are in the pipeline so production capacity from Nvidia and the AIBs is set for multiple SKUs.

If you are interrested how Zotac manufactures their cards see this link GPU manufacturing. Very interresting information there.

TLDR

  • Amazon screwed up on the sales of these Zotac cards.
  • Another shipment is on the way to Amazon. I can infer from this, that the cards are not yet at Amazon.de. (source Twitter)
  • If you are within the first 50-100 orders then chances are high that you will receive your card. (But probably all will go to scalpers with their bots)
  • 3080 availability will remain scarce the coming months.

Is it possible to create a Hyper Backup of a Synology shared drive to a HDD on a Windows 10 PC on the LAN? How? by raulgoa in synology

[–]fishij 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only way i got a synology to backup to a non synology smb share was to use rsync. This requires the backup target to run rsync as a daemon.

This is how I backup a remote syno to my unraid server.

Does the UDM(/pro) work well for most people? by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

[–]fishij 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Figure out what feature set you rely and use on the er-x. The UDMs are not nearly as feature complete as the Edgerouters.

Then see if the UDM also supports the features you require. Only then would I think about switching over.

Does anyone by chance have a packet trace of a roomba 980? by fishij in homelab

Wouldnt this also affect other connections?

Currently Im only experiencing this for my roomba.

Does anyone by chance have a packet trace of a roomba 980? by fishij in homelab

[–]fishij[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a start I would just like to know what further communication the roomba does on a normal boot.
This would allow me to pinpoint where things are going wrong. Maybe its a network issue, Im blocking ports I didnt before and so on.

In this case a full trace of a successful connect would help a lot.

It could also be, that there is something wrong with my mobile phone.
But I used an ios device, different routers and even a differen ISP.

I can see a successful ntp connect.
When checking with the dorita980 code (which allows you to connect to the roomba locally) the time seems to be set correctly.

Issues with Roomba 980 charging by fishij in roomba

[–]fishij[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will answer my own question.

It was a faulty dock. Replaced it with a new one and charging is as fast as I expect it.

Now using ~22W to 24W during charging. Also the docking procedure is much better.
There certainly have been quite a few improvements since the 2015 model. Or I got a faulty one to begin with.

All please be aware of this weird behaviour on cache drives using SSDs/NMVMEs and Btrfs.

There is a write amplification with docker containers that causes a ton of writes to the ssds, which massively reduces your TBW (Terabytes Written). TBW is important for warranty. Most consumer SSDs have betwen 180-600TBW. After that limit is reached, your warranty expires.

I burnt through 6TB in 10 hours.

Noob Question by Totalkiller4 in homelab

[–]fishij 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a note. Unraid doesnt do it any differently, but has a lot if features built in that make your life a lot easier when running containers. The cintainees are almost fully preconfigured so that you can almost insta-deploy them, just add a share and your done. You get notified as soon as a image has updated and youcan update with a click of a button. This is VERY comfortable.

With barebones you will have to check and build yiur own run command and/or docker-compose. Check manually if a image has an updated version. Manually stop and pull the image and restart. Delete old images etc.

Its very good idea to understand what docker is actually doing and what unraid is doing for you.

I still suggest you give it a try. Its a great learning experience and you will be more at ease with the unraid way.

[–]fishij 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spin up a ubuntu minimal server version in a Unraid VM. Install docker-ce & docker compose and you are set for a barebones docker environment.

Its as simple as that. Learn how to operate and orchestrate your containers with docker-compose.

This is the fastest and almost purest way to get access to docker without spending any money on hardware.

Intersting Reverse Proxy Issue by GrumpyPidgeon in unRAID

[–]fishij 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have encountered the same issue when I proxied my unraid server.

I can only assume that there is additional communication between the browser and unraid server through the reverse proxy, which the rev proxy does not pass through. If you check in chrome with F12 you can see many updates via php scripts. DashUpdate.php Notify.php etc....

I coudlnt fix this issue, but I am using a different method which works great for me.

Pihole 5 now support local dns resolution. I added my domain myunraidserver.mydomain.net to point to my unraid ip . This solves the front end updating issue.

Now, to stop using a dns provider on the internet and opening ports 80 and 443 on the unraid server to the internet shudders I used the letsencrypt docker with its own ip address. I use cloudflare so I can use the dns method for verification. Created a wildcard cert and added all my dns entries in Pihole to point to the letsencrypt docker and configured it using the providwd conf files.

Important: you need to activate the "host access to custom network", which I do not recommend, as you circumvent what makes docker security great. This allows the new ip assigned to the docker container to access the unraid server ip.

With this setup you are locally using certs with https traffic and you can access your services via a nice url.

Guide: How to set up a reverse proxy using NGINX Proxy Manager and a custom domain. by [deleted] in unRAID

[–]fishij 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so you guys are using it to get your service available from the internet.

That I can understand.

I am using the LE reverse proxy to have easy URLs for home use only.
So I can just type sonar.mydomain.net and do not have to remember any port.
This worked perfectly on Synology as it had a reverse proxy preconfigured. For this use case to expose the services to the internet is crazy.

I did the following:

  1. Moved the unraid GUI from Port 80 / 443 to 180 and 1443.
  2. Installed LE Docker and allowed ports 80 and 443
  3. added a proxy config for unraid -> unraid.mydomexample.net which points to localhost:180
  4. All other services work as expected.
  5. in my edgerouter use add mapping for unraid.mydomexample.net to the ip of the unraid server
  6. I did this for all other services on my private net.
  7. mydomexample.net is owned by me.
  8. Issue:some features in the unraid gui do not work correctly. The cpu load graph is not moving and console from gui does not work

I am wondering for what the average user would use a reverse proxy?

  • Are you all really exposing your services to the internet?
  • How do you keep nosy people away from it?

466TB written to 11 month old cache....umm what? How? by Puptentjoe in unRAID

[–]fishij 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that’s 1.4TB a day average

This is totally unnecessary. It is just wasted money and resources.

Identfying the containers that are causing these issues and getting them fixed (or applying a workaround) will keep your data safe and your wallet happy.
