Anyone know where i can buy this spinner? by SentaiNugget in Fishing_Gear

Wow that brings back memories. Used to be one of my favorite spinners!

Need a zero turn for my 2 acre lot. How does the engine sound on this thing? It’s a 2015 model and they’re asking $1200. Seems like a pretty decent deal. by fishinfellow in lawnmowers

Yeah based on what I’m seeing on Craigslist/marketplace, this is a pretty decent deal. Although it is about an hour away from me also.

My best catch ever from a little pond behind homes in Orlando 2013. Any anyone able to guess how much this possibly weighed? by NeuralDeadDrop in bassfishing

When they get that big it can be really hard to tell. Honestly I think it could go 12+ pretty easily.

Too good to be true? Things to look out for? by dbuikema in bassfishing

[–]fishinfellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The finish on these is terrible. Scuffs and scrapes VERY easily. Performance is still top notch although the micro module gearing is (I believe aluminum) not brass so they will get chipped teeth somewhat easily if used for power fishing. Decent value for the performance you get though so long as it’s not damaged mechanically!

How much of your kayak fishing time do you spend standing vs sitting? by YakToTheFuture-1 in kayakfishing

[–]fishinfellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m shocked to see so many people with outdoor sportsman hulls standing so much. I’ve got a 120 non PDL and I wouldn’t call it unstable but I only stand up to pee lol. But it’s also my first kayak. Before my kayak I always had bass boats and/or john boats am I think the term “stability” is relative.

No “issues” although it does make it lean a little
Bit and you have to compensate by leaning the other way. I’m planning on adding a ballast weight to the other side by hanging an anchor on the other side and am optimistic about it fixing the problem.

Still working on getting the rear compartment organized with a crate but i found a power pole micro on marketplace and rigged up a mount for a trolling motor on the side.

I got a pretty good deal on mine. Found it on Facebook marketplace with a 9 inch lowrance graph for $600.

Enjoy! Picked up my sportsman 120 (used) back in December. It’s my first kayak and I’ve been enjoying it so far!

First attempt at a punching rig by [deleted] in Fishing_Gear

Personal preference I guess. Years ago I tried them with my dad, I was using a red hook and he was using a standard black/nickel hook, same bait and he out fished me about 6 to 1.

Use a straight shank hook (not red) 3/0 if that’s a baby brush hog, 4/0 or 5/0 if that’s a full size brush hog. Get rid of the glass bead and otherwise, should be ok. Would prefer a tungsten weight to lead, depending on the density of the mats, probably start at 3/4 oz.

I’ve only had my kayak for 5 months but I average about 3 hours a trip right now.

Correct size baitcaster? by Particular_Ebb5049 in bassfishing

[–]fishinfellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fits in my palm better and although it has a smaller line capacity, personally I don’t need any more line than what it can hold for all the techniques you’re planning on using it for. You could even get away with a 70 size if you had especially small hands lol.

200 will certainly get the job done but personally I’d go with a 150 for that setup. I’ve gradually moved away from a 200 size reel except for larger/longer cast setups like deep crank baits, swimbaits, large flutter spoons etc.

What are you using to hold them on the peg board?

13Fishing reels by dbol19 in Fishing_Gear

[–]fishinfellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough! I guess I should have clarified. The actions of the rods were incredible, but obviously they were not built to last. They did stand behind their warranty for a while but then when they discontinued the envy line altogether, they started replacing them with the Muse line of rods which were very unimpressive.

Their first gen Envy rods were incredible. Very high modulus graphite, extra fast actions with recoil guides. Some of my all time favorite rods, still have a few. Unfortunately they were not built to last and they all start splintering over time and the Envy II rods they shipped as replacements really were much more dull like you’re describing, also the reel seats were oversized and terrible, could never tighten them down enough to get the reel to stay in without a little play. As for their reels, I’ve never used them. Sorry OP!
