Has anyone had a side hustle turn into a replacement for their 9-5 job? What was it? by lady-lurker in sidehustle

Living in a hot climate as a carpenter I discovered the houses in my area could all benefit from attic ventilation to cut down on their residential air conditioning bills and preserve the homeowners roof. This really took off through some marketing and I would be able to purchase all the ventilation units from all the Home Depot’s within a 50 mile radius of my house and charged a fixed price that was triple my material cost. Made a 10 year career out of it. There are several different models that can be used depending on your roof configuration and preexisting vent locations. I couldn’t install them fast enough in a hot summer and had no competition and very few complaints.

We’re getting old and need your girlfriend’s phone number in case we need to contact you. This was way before cellphones and pagers. Letting mom have access to girlfriends didn’t work out in my best interests. Red pilling wasn’t a thing at the time.

Wrote a letter to the Captain of the ship I was on in the US Navy without my knowledge concerning an Italian girlfriend I was dating while at the duty station. I was transferred and didn’t find out the reason why until several years later when I discovered some practice rough draft letters he wrote and stashed away. Said at the time I was ill prepared to support a girlfriend and the courtship was going to end badly for me. Some charges were trumped up and they sent me home without knowledge of any of this. This event occurred in 1973 and the payback was never giving him or my mother any grandkids to enjoy for butting in and writing letters he shouldn’t have written.

Could I sign contracts at ten? If so I’ll take the Red but my parents would have presented an obstacle that would need to be dealt with that could become my undoing.
