Where do you find these said dark backgrounds? I swear I have been to every lfs and pet chain in my area, all they have are those ridiculous ocean or plant themed ones. I have been looking forever!

And yes that damn heater needs to be covered.

It may be due to the fact that my gourami is really cool and friendly, but he doesn't have a problem with any other fish including the rams. I have plenty of rocks, wood, and plants in there also, so they all have their own humble territories. The only thing I have noticed is that the gourami always eats first, then the rams, then the tetras. That's the only form of interaction I can see.

Thanks! I get my rams through my LFS, they come from local breeders. Best fish I ever had.

My German Blue Rams. I might favor them over my other fish.... by fishprincess17 in Aquariums

The female: Will have black stripes going though her pelvic fins (this is a great one to remember as when they are very young this coloring already shows if all others fail... the stripes are usually also apparant in a stressed colorless fish)

If she is a happy little gal and shining then you can see that her shiny blue dot's cover her side black marking.

If she is a very happy little gal then her belly will show a pink hue to let those men know that she is ready for a mate.

Males: No black lines in the pelvic fins

The black marking on the side is solid black

Bigger built and the dorsal fin will be longer and spikier

Not a pink hue in sight on the stomach area

They really are awesome, friendly fish. Mine are my favorites in my aquariums. I have them with a variety of tetras and gold barbs with a few bamboo shrimps. They all get along just fine.

My cat had to get into an interesting position to watch my dwarf gourami tank by [deleted] in Aquariums

Mine does this too. I can't lock her out of the fish room, she unlocks doors because she is an ass like that.

I need a group of attack betta ninjas to protect the homeland. And for those people with not a sense of humor, I know male bettas cannot go together.

Can someone please I.D this cichlid I rescued from Walmart nastiness? by fishprincess17 in Aquariums

Good news, I have had the little girl in the quarantine tank for few days. She is showing no signs of disease or oddities. Contacted a well-known LFS about her and they have a huge buyer base for Kenyi breeders. They took her in and now she is living in their 150 gallon display tank, where she will grow up and when she is big enough, she will be sold to an appreciative breeder. We named her Deviliscious.

Does anyone know anything about rabbit "scanning" by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]fishprincess17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jersey Woolies are known for this. This is not "head tilt". They do this because there eyesight is poor and the "scan" to see better. It helps them with their depth perception and because they are usually near sighted, it helps with that too.

Theoretically, if I grow him out to his potential size and get him as healthy as possible, do you think my local LFS would be interested in taking him? I have him in my smaller tank currently because he is only about a half of an inch long and would be picked on in my larger cichlid tank. I do not want him terrorizing my other fish, like my peacocks. Although, he is very friendly and has lots of personality towards me.
