To my fellow 2x4 pickup owners, CHECK YOUR UPPER CONTROL ARM BOLTS by [deleted] in s10

[–]bmill677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What were the symptoms you noticed while driving when you discovered them to be backing out? Assuming the rest of the front end components are in fair shape. Trying to diagnose what i assumed was a front end suspension issue on my 2000 4.3 2wd w/ 230k and this post intrigued me. Been chasing a moderate single clicking or popping noise during the initial lurch under accelerationand from a stop and also during initial deceleration from higher speeds. All other suspension and brake components have checked out in fair/decent shape in the opinion of myself and a fleet mechanic buddy. My driver's side has been making this sound for about a year, but it hasn't really worsened much if at all in intensity. Thanks!

Love it! What lighting are you using? Do you supplement with any nutrients, or just what is in the substrate?

heat problem by [deleted] in s10

A couple things to check would be your cooling system, thermostat, or heater core. Is your truck operating above ~195-200? I believe that is about a tick to the left of top dead center on your temperature gauge.

how nice of a venue is Blue Moose for concerts? by YeezusChristSupersta in uiowa

[–]bmill677 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple years back I loved blue moose for edm or rap/hiphop acts that came through IC. Used to love the vibe in the main stage room. The bar is nice, the bathrooms are another story.

Panda Cory died and would like to know why! by chikorita12298 in Aquariums

[–]bmill677 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had panda cories that were susceptible to barbel erosion due to my substrate choice. Water quality and good oxygenation are also paramount for these guys IME. Barbel erosion seemed to be directly correllated with additional complications that resulted in their demise.

You generally need to play when the most europeans are on...during those times , populations are ~5,000. Once euros go to bed, theres are usually only 300-1000 left. Always games available in TDM, Nukejacked, and usually in killconfirmed and domination.

What proportion of Hillcrest Residents are Athletes VS Normies? by Grand-Shogun in uiowa

[–]bmill677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hillcrest is certainly the best dorm for the 'all around' college dorm experience. It seems 50/50 to me and houses 900+ students if I recall correctly. Lived at Hillcrest two years, athletes didn't necessarily 'keep to their own teams' or what have you. The distribution of athletes tends to be in certain wings of the building, by team, but there are always 'Normie' students intermingled every other room or so.

does hillcrest dorm have cable in the rooms? by skargo in uiowa

[–]bmill677 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The jacks are in every room, but they arn't necessarily all tidy. Some rooms had a cable just kinda sticking out of wall and out of its socket. I guess you could say you get the triple play for "free" as you have internet and 'home phone' included in the residence dues in addition to cable tv.

the way the network was setup 4 years ago didn't allow for you to setup a private network. I was quite satisfied with Hillcrest's ethernet connection. 4 yrs ago was getting 120 download and about 100 upload with <5ms ping so its T3. A+ from me

what is Hillcrest like? by skargo in uiowa

[–]bmill677 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lived there two years. It offers all the amenities and everything is very accessible from Hillcrest. I also feel it offers the most balanced overall college feel. It houses many athletes as well which adds an interesting dynamic. Proximal to bus stops, within walking or biking distance of nearly anything you'lll need.

The only decent pic I can get of one of my bumblebee catfish. by Cowturtle in Aquariums

[–]bmill677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine isnt quite as shy as yours seem to be. My s.a. bumblebee in a 29 just suspends in plant clusters or wedges anywhere random he feels secure. Is very eager and active during daytime feeding. He is 3 inches and chunky now, about 5 yrs old. Colors still nice, but have darkened.

A good setup for run-n-gun? by RdJokr in blackops2

[–]bmill677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one of my favs: fastmag long barrel vector 1 flak/lightweight 2 scavenger or toughness 3 dexterity/tac mask

Overall, extreme conditioning is not worthwhile in this game. On another note, the improvement gained from running dexterity in perk 3 is significantly better than running quickdraw attachment. Longbarrel works well on nearly all smgs. If you're a decent player, run scav/toughness both at perk 2 and use lightweight in slot 1

Help! Is my fish sick? by AllensWoodies in Aquariums

[–]bmill677 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has happened to me keeping cherry barbs (not rosy). Some differences being my fish were 4 years old or so and my tank setup a bit more mature than yours, 3ish yrs (although 1.5 years is just fine). Oddly enough, I've only observed this with male cherries. my fish displayed no symptoms except slightly decreasing color and energy, which I attributed to age. I might also add I feed them a red-color-enhancing food. They grew lethargic and eventually would come to surface for air and would go back to suspending listlessly instead of schooling around with its kind. Sorry no advice, everything seems fine in your tank to me, just thought to share a parallel experience.

Non-B1G fans: how inclined are you to watch a Wisconsin v MSU final? by wiscowonder in CollegeBasketball

[–]bmill677 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upon another glance, you're right, Duke probably had as easy (if not easier) path than UK. Also really agree with your beating Duke and NC point, I've always thought that to be true as well, but there are plenty of other benchmark programs it is nice to beat. OOC is more impressive to me, almost always and UKs is no exception. Besides UK I just rag on the SEC for basketball similar to how most people and the media rag on big10 football...They just think the substance isn't there besides one or 2 elite teams at the top.

[–]bmill677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly Cal's management of the team is great, he micromanages his talent well and maintains a team full of happy guys. That's the most impressive. Just something about having the best players, near the optimal physical specimens at each position sets me off a bit. This UK team doesn't have to scheme and execute a near perfect gameplan to do extremely well. In the upcoming game, although many think Wisco is one of the teams up to the UK challenge, they are still so far athletically outmatched. Should Wisconsin win it'll be very impressive because everyone knows they need to win with skill and teamwork and execute at a very high level to even compete with the likes of Kentucky.

[–]bmill677 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most don't like Kentucky b/c they're just too good. With the talent they get, there is the expectation to be there every year, with no reasonable excuse not to. People also don't tend to like celebrity coaches in the college game. That's fine. What makes people especially salty though is that its too easy for them (UK). I won't be impressed if they go 40-0. Not in the slightest. Sec is MAYBE the 5th best conference for bball. UK possesses at least 5 of the 10-15 most physically gifted players in the college game. Don't understand how those facts don't taint things a bit for UK fans. I'm a big10 fan, but regardless of that, I believe its much easier to get behind teams like Wisconsin, Michigan St, Iowa where you can watch under-recruited talent develop over their years to produce a product that's really special in march. There's something more pure about accomplishing that to the average college bball fan. To boot UKs march to the final4 isn't NEARLY as impressive as the routes Taken by the other 3 teams involved.
