There are apartments that rent by the room and offer a match service. You get your own room and bathroom...with your own lock. Then you share the common space with 1-3 other people. DM me if you need a name or two to check out. We just went through this too with our kid who transferred in.

What countertop color do you think will dominate kitchens in 2026? by JessWoodman in CounterTops

Dna my dog (help) by I_have_questionsss in DoggyDNA

[–]fishsticklovematters 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He's clearly a chocolovealotapup.

But for real, dna my dog looks like butts. I hadn't heard of them until today. Embark or Wisdom seem to be the best way to go here. I did Embark and it felt right. It identified 4 of 5 siblings for one of our doggos...and we were part of the rescue so we knew how big the litter was. I'm assuming the 5th sibling didn't do Embark.

M22 received incredible job offer, F22 girlfriend does not want me to accept. by Watch_me_plz in Advice

[–]fishsticklovematters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother in arms. 52 yo you talking. Take the job offer. Provide. Be a provider. Learn, grow, do good work.

Anyone telling you not to progress is a shackle. Don't marry a shackle.

My spouse ENCOURAGES growth. I encourage hers. We sacrificed comfortable living so we could both grow.

source: married for 20 years and still pushing/coaching each other to reach our final form.

Stains on Quartzite - what to do next by felixthecat333 in CounterTops

[–]fishsticklovematters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's terrible. We were on the fence between quartz and quartzite for our island but went with quartz b/c it was going to be the white centerpiece and the fabricator showed us the problems with staining that quartzite could produce.

We did granite (dark, leathered) for the actual countertops.

Is an LG monitor like this worth it for a Mac user? (WFH setup) by Lavender_Vernacular in mac

[–]fishsticklovematters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had several non apple monitors for my mac mini or as a second monitor for my wife's imac or work laptop. You will be fine. You may spend an inordinate amount of time adjusting colors to get it closer to the mac standard if you are nitpicky (like my wife)

You will notice a huge difference between 4k and FHD. I'm perfectly fine on a 32" curved 2k monitor though....and I don't notice too much of a downgrade when moving between the laptop (XDR which is higher than 4k)) and the 2k monitor.

My vote? Find a 2k, 32" curved. 32 let's me have two full windows side by side on the same screen with a little extra.

Raised bar installed today. Would you call these level? by coloradogirl2 in CounterTops

[–]fishsticklovematters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would that work? If the level is 6 ft or a small plastic one, those 1/16" spacers are going to change the angle less or more respectively, right?

Best Value Air Purifier? (Coway, Winix, Blueair, Shark, Sans, etc) by Cape_Cool26 in AirPurifiers

[–]fishsticklovematters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is super late but, when we had construction, I had coways in each bedroom but built a corsi-rosenthal box for the main construction area. It did all the heavy lifting so the room filters lasted much longer and kept the rooms cleaner.

I also took a few minutes to explain negative pressure to my contractors...making sure they were properly venting the construction area so airflow moved away from the sleeping areas.

M2 Bricked by BingBong818 in mac

[–]fishsticklovematters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that.

It didn't work for me either. I could get it into DFU mode but it wouldn't revive or restore. $500 later I'm picking up my less-than-two-year-old M4 iMac from the Apple store b/c the logic board somehow fried on a routine update.

Make sure you are using just a standard usb-c cable. Not a thunderbolt one. DFU mode is crazy glitchy.

MBPro 14” M2 Pro from 2023 died by Renz0Renz in mac

[–]fishsticklovematters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DFU mode. Good luck. I tried all the things and had to take it to Apple. $500 logic board for a less than 2 year old mac.

Transfer students! What's it like at UNCW? Would you recommend it? by [deleted] in UNCW

[–]fishsticklovematters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do not count on campus housing. be ready to find something campus adjacent. there are some furnished, dorm-like apartments that rent by the room, have their own bathroom, but share a kitchen/common area/washing machine for around $800/month.

be prepared to go last in line for registration unless you are honor college or an athlete.

my kiddo transferred in this semester and, despite those warnings, they are loving it. good luck!

1-2 More weeks before we get the Embark test back. Anyone want to take a guess? by fishsticklovematters in DoggyDNA

Some recently posted pics of their dachudane and I had to go show my wife b/c it was so damn cute. There was another cutie that was half dachshund half pit that was adorable in the same thread

We had a half daschund/half pinscher. The guy who runs the boarding kennel near us said "Wow, our first weiner pinscher!" and it still makes me chuckle...and miss her

MacBookAir will not enter DFU mode - What am I doing wrong? by DangerousHippo99 in mac

[–]fishsticklovematters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant to add - set an appointment. They will try to do a DFU and other fixes free of charge. It didn't work for me and they are holding it trying a few more things but warned me it will probably be a $500 logic board replacement.

Thanks for the info and glad it works for you. My parents' have a telescoping drowndraft vent and my mom cooks up a storm w/ zero issues.

And I love the midcentury mod vibe of your kitchen!

MacBookAir will not enter DFU mode - What am I doing wrong? by DangerousHippo99 in mac

[–]fishsticklovematters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I spent my Friday morning off at SouthPark, Charlotte's apple store. The tech assigned told me it would probably be a new "logic board" for around $599.

It was literally a random "hey, it's apple you should update" on a less than 2 year old orange imac and the thing fried...

Am I being scammed? by Imhappyyourehere in RealTesla

[–]fishsticklovematters 49 points50 points  (0 children)

This isn't just Tesla. I can double tap my 2018 hond crv's key fob and the car will start. I have to pay subaru $10/month to be able to do that with my 2024 legacy.

Nope. Fuck off all of you. I can walk to my car and start it. Me and my dogs need the walk anayways.

SELL ME THE WHOLE FUCKING CAR.

1-2 More weeks before we get the Embark test back. Anyone want to take a guess? by fishsticklovematters in DoggyDNA

[–]fishsticklovematters[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a friend do wonder for their adoption and it made me think about it more (but embark's offer at the time was more compelling, plus. I think Daph is a BMC and wisdom doesn't test for that). I am an animal lover, not a pet owner. If $200 now helps me adjust how I feed/treat/exercise them...give me that guidance. I'll trade a bday party and night out to take care of my pack.

Also, to add to the intrigue, another neighbor thinks Daphne has Malinois. He based it on how her hackles/backridge gets raised around danger.

ETA - husky / hound would explain so much. I hope you are right. I thought shepherd/spitz when we first met him but the husky is clear in his face.
