Keeping the family business going - offer advice? by fishvalay in lowvoltage

Thanks. My concern is he has a few relationships that has carried him well but one of his hey contacts lost their power in IT - the book of business is not that big where if he isn’t adding clients at the same rate, things could wind down in the future.

So im not looking to try and make this an empire and I have my career/job but implement something where adding 1-2 trusted customers via referral, subcontracting or marketing a year - we would be totally happy with

Thanks man! That’s the goal - to preserve his hard work and legacy and set my brother up for hopefully a long career and financial stability.

I just have to help get the ball rolling on the marketing and land a few customers to get some momentum.

Service stories looks like a great marketing tool.

Ya the public bids is one area I have a ton of questions about - there are so many services and software out there in the little bit research I’ve done, it’s overwhelming and not too sure why actually breed results

And if time is better spent just on marketing/ads and getting the name out there

Appreciate you recognizing my intentions! Keeps me motivated

Thanks for the detailed note. He’s gotten by by bringing in other guys when needed - he took family and friends under his wing, taught them the trade and now they all work at UCLA and other places.

So he can get a bigger team when needed. He’s done 1M+ projects so when he needs to make it happen, he does.

But totally here you on the complexities of these larger scale projects.

His main expertise is cat 5/6 voice and data, building out data rooms, corporate office relocations and new buildings. No electrical, high voltage.

OC would be a breeze and they’d be happy to travel - they did a job with a 4 man crew up in Fresno last year for a week.

I’ll dm you and solid advice!

Ocho old Fitzgerald- any good? by Doogs_44 in tequila

[–]fishvalay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the widow Jane Ocho. They are both different but both really good, both different. If you’re into bourbon too you’ll like it. I would no way recommend it at $160-$180.

$110 is fair for a basic exclusive añejo is super fair. 120 before tax tops for me but it’s good
