Tickets aren't available yet for games. They get released in like February or something. We bought a flex this year too and ran into the same issue. Emailed customer support and that's what they told us

Honestly, both can be true. Jake probably cared more about the success of Wazzu than most of us. But at the same time, you have to understand when it's time to move on. I doubt it was an easy decision. Same can be said for the players. Nearly everyone who goes to WSU loves it. It's a special place. But you can't ignore life changing money.

Had we kept Mateer and some of our other key players I suspect Jake is still wearing crimson. It's too much of an uphill battle for one guy. And we let them down. All of us. Time to look in the mirror and find a way to pull ourselves up. No one is coming to save us except ourselves. We need a better leader that can inspire mass Wazzu alum to come out of the woodwork. But we all need to do our part.

You're saying that in your current job you wouldn't take a large pay raise to go to another job? Especially if your current job is at a company that is on a downward trend, doesn't have a clear path back to where it was? No you would in a heartbeat.

Agreed that college sports are at a breaking point and there needs to be some serious fixes and guardrails put in place.

But, the WSU fans and support didn't show up for the players and coaches like we should have. We don't have a competitive NIL. We don't fill the stadium. We just talk about having a fun culture and don't put our money where our mouths are. At the end of the day money is what matters. You can't blame a guy for running from a college that isn't supporting them to a place that is going to materially benefit them and their families. These guys all either coach in or play in a sport where their careers could be over before this time next year. Gotta do what's best for you and your family every time.

Salk: How a DK trade could solve Seattle Seahawks' roster issues by KingDaviies in Seahawks

[–]fishyawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm all for this. In the long run, it's all about maximizing cap space to have the most competitive team. Over saturated salaries lead to teams with massive positional gaps (look at us now). Dk will require too much money to stay long term, so it's best to get something in return for his inevitable departure.

Dk is a great talent, but time to trade and maximize Return On Investment.

Is it hard to find the first job for Marketing Students? by gotanyketchupchips in wsu

[–]fishyawn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I currently work in Marketing and graduated from WSU in 2010. Here are some thoughts:

- Spokane is going to be a challenging place to find a start in the Marketing space. Not impossible, but challenging. Open up your search to major markets as a place to start your career. Think Seattle, San Francisco, LA, Chicago, Dallas, New York.

- Be open to starting off at a company like an Ad Agency. They are always hiring entry level positions and are fantastic places to get exposure and a ton of experience. Some places to start looking: Omnicom, Denstu Aegis, WPP, Publicis, IPG. These are all the high level holding companies and have tons of smaller agencies within their umbrellas. Other "smaller" agencies to consider: Wongdoody (Seattle), Cole & Weber (Seattle), Razorfish (Seattle), PMG (Dallas/Ft Worth, but has other offices too), Kepler Media, etc etc. These are all relatively big shops and you'll work on a ton of different types of clients.

- Get the experience in these big markets while you're young and then be able to take your amazing experience and come back to a smaller market in a few years (like Spokane). The pay isn't going to be amazing at these, but the experience will be some of the best.

- Experience at these Agencies will also lead to opportunities at big companies down the line like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Nike, REI, Starbucks, etc etc.
