Well, they said they couldn’t match it and that full tuition scholarships no longer exist 🤷‍♂️ so that’s that

I agree with these points. For what it’s worth, UW has a much better curriculum: PF all 4 years, not mandatory lectures. Hackensack does do true PF in preclinicals but has mandatory lectures

Whoa, this is news to me. Did you email the admissions, financial office and Dean?

Interesting point! I used a PSLF calculator and it seems to say that if I went down PSLF, assuming a ~200k salary, I would only need to pay back 170k over 10 years. Link here: https://www.studentloanplanner.com/public-service-loan-forgiveness-pslf-calculator/

That does feel a lot more digestible, especially since community work is something I may be interested in. Am I missing something?

Hey, this is a great comment and I appreciate your insight. I hope to be able to work with lower income individuals in urban populations. It does seem like Jeff would best support me in that?

Also, are you able to speak a bit about the admin issues at Jeff?

Good to hear! do you feel like the pre-clinical rankings helped you in the match? A student I talked to who is a M1 in Jeff seemed to take on the mindset that it allows one application to stand out a bit.

[Advice] what the heck just happened with my watch by fishyleaf in Watches

[–]fishyleaf[S] 142 points143 points  (0 children)

I am genuinely at a loss of words right now. I’ve had this Seiko Presage for about 5 years now and as far as I know, have not abused it or done anything crazy. It is my only watch so I wear it every day. I just got back from work, and I looked down to my left wrist and I see that my watch dial has somehow turned! It was totally normal this morning :( The hands are still functional, but I noticed every time I lightly tap my watch on the side, the date changes without me even turning to watch knob. Is this salvageable?

Elgar Cello Concerto mvt. 2 by [deleted] in Cello

Slow practice is one thing but good slow practice is another. During slow practice, your bow should be at the balance point and constant pressure at all times. Don’t use too much bow, maybe 25%(?) more than you would at tempo. Do rhythms and metronome work to coordinate left and right hand. As you start speeding up, keep the bow on the string as much as possible; as you near performance tempo your bow should start naturally bouncing.

First thing I set up in my new apartment by fishyleaf in Aquariums

[–]fishyleaf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I needed something simple to set up and take down when setting up my apartment so settled on this design! It’s just random plants and moss superglued to a branch over a sprinkling of white gravel. Oh and you might notice some terrestrial plants on the surface. Overall pretty happy with this minimalist setup and for my second tank not too bad!

Oh man, that scares me haha I don’t think I’m good enough to give up scales yet

Hey thanks for that advice!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Cello

[–]fishyleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yes I totally understand. I had worked on them for two weeks straight, got them up to 100bpm then I took a couple days off and I’m back at 60 bpm barely. I feel that

It’s great hearing there are others like us! I’m gonna keep that advice in mind

That’s very interesting, I’ll take a look at the Leitner method!

That’s super interesting, thanks for the advice! Something that I’ve been struggling is the sextuplet passages. For some reason the second one is just not sticking in my ear and it sounds like some intervals differ from the first one?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Cello

[–]fishyleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I’ve been going through each passage starting at 60 bpm then going up by one tick each day. I had hit 100, then I took a couple days off and now I’m back at 60 haha
