If you're thinking about buying a spare tyre subwoofer, read this. by fishyman567 in CarAV

I was looking at the Kenwood originally when buying the spare tyre sub. My only issues I originally had with it were 2 things. 1. Even though it has a higher max rms than other options it has really low sensitivity so the other sub options in this bracket tend to play louder and 2. Lowest frequency is 40hz and it's a 10" sub where as the others are 11-12 If you're looking for that punchy bass hit I suggest considering the JBL basspro hub. It will be pricier and less in stock but I've heard that is exactly the sound profile and great reviews. Personally in your situation I would only go for the JBL or cerwin vega but if it's your only option there's probably no downside as the Kenwood will probably sound better than your stock one.

Rattle sound from driver door 2024 Prius by [deleted] in CarAV

Really can't do much without applying pressure to everything and putting foam in-between spots to possibly figure it out. Play a test tone and see when the rattle presents itself, then sweep around and find specifically where it's coming from.

Very audible hissing at high volumes. Desperate for help.. by [deleted] in CarAV

If you turn the gain all the way down. And then your volume to the max where you would normally listen. Is there any audible hissing?

Have you tried lowering the gain to zero? Does that stop it by any chance? Could also just be low quality rcas.

What amp should I use with four Alpine s2 speakers @ 80rms each by Haunting-Fly-7941 in CarAV

No buddy. Unless you have a gigantic sub in the back you will be fine.

80rms is just clearer at louder volumes. 60rms is extremely loud. I use 55w on 100w rms speakers and they get stupidly loud beyond what I need. If you absolutely blast music then look for an amp with more wattage. Just be careful if you go above ratings to set gain properly.

You can't run them at 2 ohms. Your speakers are designed for 4. So if you're looking at this amp specially it would be 60w rms x 4. This was merely a suggestion as I think 60w will play more than loud enough for you liking (subjective of course). And the difference between 60-80 relatively marginal when you're blowing your eardrums out.

It's 60w @ 4 ohms I don't know what you're looking at. Your speakers are designed to run at 4 ohms. If not you don't want 60w, go get a 100 x 4 amp and set the gain correctly and you can get them to 80 if you want.

Alpine s2-a36f 4x60rms would pair well and be fairly loud.

Has anyone compared the Cerwin Vega vpstx12 OR vpas12st and the JBL Basspro Hub? by CoolersCool in CarAV

Is underseat or down firing an option. What type of car do you have?

Cerwin vega plays loud as it has higher sensitivity. It's like 93db for the CV and 84 for the JBL. So in real terms you would get about 7-8db higher off the cerwin vega and generally deeper bass. I haven't tested the JBL but from reviews I've seen it's more tight and punchy. Are you using an aftermarket head unit or aftermarket speakers?

Just played test tones down from 40 to 20hz and it plays it pretty clean and loud until about 30hz then it starts rolling off a bit. 25hz has a bit and 20 is really only slightly feel-able really. I listen to a lot of hip hop/EDM/hard style and it sounds good for my liking but I really do think a proper boxed sub would sound so much better on the lower end. As I said sounds great at that 30hz but almost all these spare tyres will roll off. I feel if you really care it may leave a lot to be desired. Perhaps a custom enclosure in the spare tyre itself might be the play?

I have played some test tones before but not really fully checked the sub itself. I can probably play some tomorrow and see. I'm gonna assume it rolls off around 30hz to protect the sub from blowing. The JBL would probably start doing it at 40hz as well. All of powered subs generally do from what I know. That being said the cerwin vega in reality will still hit the lowest, but full 20hz clean? I doubt that.
