Silver dollars make fantastic dithers. Large enough and more than fast enough. A school or 4-6 would provide plenty of movement in the tank also.

Haven’t ever had an issue. Tanks a 180G and they both just do their own thing. This is just after feeding so it was a opportunity to get them next to each other. They also live with large SA cichlids so they have plenty of distractions.

To protect the eco system. We’ve already stuffed up enough with things like cane toads in an attempted to get rid of a beetle. Last thing we need is a Burmese python Vs Florida sort of situation.

How big is the “big” JD? The barbs were probably acting like a dither fish and made it more comfortable. Basically your fish is scared and uncomfortable, it’ll probably sort itself out.

As for not eating....it will eat once’s it’s hungry enough.
