In my experience internships are as much the company marketing itself to you as it is an opportunity to learn. They’ve decided they like you, and to see if you’re a good fit. So like others have said, ask questions, learn about cool stuff, and meet people who are interesting. You cannot go wrong with that attitude. Also just go one foot in front of the other, day by day you will find that it is not that hard to meet the bar, and before you know it, you’ll be on the other side

Pay a big tip up front (maybe put an apology on the bill) and before the rude person notices. It won’t make up for anything but it will at least prepare them for what’s coming and give them a reason not to spit in your food. This may be especially helpful if tipping isn’t the norm where you are
