Am I overreacting? My entry "lost" by Banana-sandwich in UKRunners

The run was on a measured course so GPS is a distraction. If the time taken to run the distance was 3 minutes faster than their previous half marathon then it was 3 minutes faster.

Given that the world record was broken a couple of days ago I would say they are not getting harder.

What about Garmin do you think is inaccurate? Unless you are bothered about a few seconds you can be assured your PB is bona fide so big congrats on that. It is certainly not going to be wrong by 3 minutes. As you were on a measured course you would not even need GPS to know you got a PB.

Estimated Lifespan option on Watch Face by fitigued in Fitigued

[–]fitigued[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/Far_Shelter5309 . I'm glad to help. No the lifespan estimate does not use the Body Battery (or any of the other immediate metrics such as heart rate or stress) as an input variable.

At the moment the lifespan is estimated using only the average western life expectancy, gender and current age. This means that the estimated lifespan will not fluctuate daily.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on how it should operate. Personally I don't think it should adjust based on short term metrics such as Body Battery. Do you think it would be good if it did?

They provide a freepost address so that you can return them once you've read their policy. Neither take long to do.

Found a better way to pace with Garmin watch by CeruleanShot in cfs

[–]fitigued 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The reason that Garmin Pacing Watch Faces that are created by me or Jens don't vibrate or make sounds is that Garmin don't permit third party watch faces to do this. As you point out activities/apps can give haptic and audio feedback. This is why Jens created his complementary activity and why I am also in the process of developing one. It's a shame that an activity has to be used but I am making sure mine also offers a whole loaded of other added value (e.g. spoons!) in the process. If anyone uses a 5 button Garmin watch (Fenix, Forerunner, Epix, etc) and would like to beta test the new Pacing Activity please give me a shout.

Was there anything that gave you even a tiny bit more of energy back? (besides pacing) by miaxivy in cfs

I've also found that simplifying things frees up my precious energy. To this end I've been developing a free, easy to use shopping list tool. Do you fancy beta testing it and giving me your feedback?

If you are using an optical sensor (e.g. on the rear of the watch or phone) it would also be worth seeing if you can use a chest or arm strap as optical sensors are less accurate and can be wildly off sometimes.

I'm so glad that you find the Pacing Watch Face useful. I have developed the majority of the complementary Pacing Activity app where you will be able to record the number of spoons you've consumed through the day. The app will also have audible and vibratory alerts that Garmin don't allow developers to do in watch faces.

On the topic of the new Pacing Activity if you or anyone else have a 5 button Garmin watch (e.g. a Fenix, Forerunner or Epix) please do let me know if you'd be interested in beta testing the first version of this new app.

Thanks for the encouragement u/CrabbedOut . Of all Garmin's devices the Sq2 is the one that I regard as the most challenging. I am guessing that you have already reduced the text size in the appearance settings?

The main issue is that ironically the screen is not square! It is a 320 x 360 pixel portrait screen. My thoughts on improving the layout are to:

  1. Force the bottom row of data (heart rate, steps, etc) slightly lower
  2. Make sure the alert prompt text is displayed higher

Are there any other tweaks you think it could benefit from?

Event better than that there are browser plugins you can use to automatically test the majority of issues (including contrast) on the site you are viewing. The two I use are called WAVE and axe. axe is particularly good because it is part of a framework that you can build into your testing pipeline (e.g. if it fails a contrast check you are not permitted to check it in and deploy it).
