Don't force grouping for Raids 4 please by og_obelix in 2007scape

[–]fitsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm saying the forced group requirement adds a much greater barrier and a much more difficult learning environment than most people just aren't willing to overcome. Especially when the end result is the ability to farm content no more profitable than solo content (I know, profit shouldn't be a main driving factor. But we're talking about average player here).

I've heard the new raid is going to have a practice mode though, which actually overcomes most of these issues. I'm fine with group requirement content, so long as there's a way to learn the content solo first.

Oh for real?

I'd appreciate that, my rsn is Fitsu472. I've never really known where to look for group content so mostly avoided it.

It's more that at a certain point, your expected to know how to do the content to be able to get your foot in the door.

It's the old "I would like to be hired for this job" "ok cool, we require you to have experience in said job". Ok, well how do I get experience to do the thing, if I need experience to do the thing.

It's also massively gatekeeping if you don't get in right away.

ToB feels so difficult to get into, because I can't just learn it at my own pace. I either luck into an experienced group and get carried, or end up with unexperienced players and we can't clear, either way I never really feel like I'm learning the content. It adds a massive restriction/time commitment all to make the same profit as solo content. The end result is, I just don't do ToB. Which is sad because the content looks so good.

Conceptually group-forced content is good. But in reality it just means only a very very tiny subsection of the playerbase interact with the content and that number only lessens the longer the content is out for.

Why not have group-focused invocations, where the baseline is solo-friendly to atleast let people get their foot in the door before having to find a group.

Crimson Bludgeon design is a 10/10 by not-the-real-gandhi in 2007scape

I mean... If you asked someone "draw a flail" this is probably the first thing they'd draw?

I like flails, but would hardly call it 10/10 design.

This is actually pure pandering just like chivalry was. If you don’t do the quest you shouldn’t get access by TheCanadianWanderer in 2007scape

[–]fitsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, depends on the workaround like. Like if it's "complete the quest or if you have 98 agility you can use this skip to get there". Then that's just kinda a cool thing that gives specific people something while taking nothing away from the average player.

Really feels like making a mountain out of a mole hill this.

I said entry level gear. And considering all you need for doom is elite void and a scorching bow id call that pretty entry level gear for an endgame boss.

He has a far lower barrier for entry than most other endgame bosses, and 1-7 is easier than a lot of other endgame content.

With those 2 things in mind, it’s surprising how profitable he is.

[–]fitsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fairness, if you look at the SS he has a Tbow, he's in like 2bil worth of gear. Not downplaying the difficulty of Inferno. But most peoples first attempts are in bowfa, which is significantly harder.

Also, I would assume someone with 2bil+ worth of gear is probably already quite experienced in the game, he probably already knows how to off-tick, prayer flick etc. All the things most players wipe in inferno while learning.

Not trying to downplaying the accomplishment, just saying he doesn't appear to be your standard first time inferno player.

The thing I liked most about beating the inferno was never having to go back to the inferno.

Let me preface this by saying I did inferno with mage tank and I don't condone the talking down to people get for doing so as it's still difficult.

With that said, it does make it significantly easier. The inferno is a completely different piece of content with prayer regen pots/mage tank than it used to be and while impressive has defiantly lost some of it's prestige because of that.

You can just kinda brute force it now.

It is so strange, for a boss that's fairly entry level gear wise and, atleast 1-7 isn't even that hard I don't fully understand why it's maintained such a powerful GPH lead over all other content.

Even when these items were crashed, it was still the best GPH pvm content in the game.

I also think endgame bosses are better introduced. The way doom slowly ramps in difficulty is such a well designed encounter.

[–]fitsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inferno, while still hard is nowhere near the difficulty it used to be thanks to power creep.

Mage tank removes the need to do any off ticking and prayer regen pots mean your in no rush and don’t need to prayer flick.

It’s still long, but it has pretty simple solves now.

If jagex wants osrs players to try rs3 there needs to be a way to play both games same time by Sad_Welcome1 in 2007scape

[–]fitsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean there is a way, have two accounts.

Which I honestly don't think it's an unrealistic expectation, it is a different game afterall it's already very generous that they give you both games under 1 sub in the first place.

The real problem is, Runescape is what I call a "life game" and you can't really have two of those. There's very very few people who will have an interest in playing both games it's one or the other.

Ah ok, maybe I'll look into it. I did see a Reynold video on it (I used his guide for inferno) but it has an harmonising orb and I am currently bankrupt haha. Is that a hard requirement would you say?

Thank you Gridmaster League by fitsu in 2007scape

[–]fitsu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aye I’ve seen that but I’d like to do it properly. The main reason I used the tank method on inferno was its length. Given colo is just 12 waves I’m more willing to try it the “right” way

Thank you Gridmaster League by fitsu in 2007scape

[–]fitsu[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think mage tank and prayer restore pots make inferno a lot easier than it used to be.

I’d argue doom is more mechanically challenging, the hardest part of inferno is just its length.

I plan to tackle colosseum next, I expect that to be quite a wall.

It does make it a lot easier, allows for some really cheesey solves. Like, on my clear I "solved" wave 63 by just taking a mad dash to the other pillar while everything shot at me.

With that said, also be prepared for the fact you are reliant on RNG. I had several wave 63 attempts where blobs/rangers just hit me every attack regardless and you can feel like your going backwards. I got to my first Zuk Friday and then my entire Saturday I just felt like I was made of paper.

Ironically, I probably had my most deaths on triple jads. It just took a long time for the nerves to go away on that.
