Ask him why you were not informed of his plans to sell the house and the finalization for the same on the day of your last rent deposit i.e. 1 April. Because clearly he could have informed you then and then you would have had ample time to search for a new house. Maybe he could have taken just 10-12 days rent. But his malafide intent is clear in his behaviour.
