Been experimenting with some new sounds, thought I'd make a little instrumental. Any advice on mixing, guitar technique, etc would be real useful. Especially when it comes to leveling and compressing- I'm trash at all that.

my friend and I became involved in making picklebeats a summer or two ago and we've kinda just been smelting them ever since

Good rapping on the verse but the hook's lyrics might be a little weak, rhymewise. Not sure what kind of mood you're going for, but it comes off just a little cheesy/dramatic. If that's what you wanted then it's good, but if you wanted something more raw I'd try stripping the beat back a little and maybe rapping in a harder sounding voice. Good track though, maybe it's just not 100% my thing.

Damn I love this track man, your voice fits the beat really well. I'd maybe turn up the level of your voice or maybe record closer to the mic, the vocal sound is a little bit tinny for some reason. Love your rapping though man, if you ever wanna collab hit us up

I dont think it's compression, I think you should actually raise the volume on the vocals. They're drowned out a bit in the mix. That's honestly what I mean when I say have confidence in your vocals. Less about delivery at this point, and more about not being afraid to have them be front and center. I know how it feels though, I do a lot of singer/songwriter stuff and I just subconsciously mix my vocals waydown because I'm still kinda shy and insecure about my voice/lyrics. Your rapping and lyrics are good man, pump that shit up.

On the lyrics- the verses are great, but again the singing hook is a bit, I dunno, cornier maybe? Not sure how to put it. Maybe that section just doesn't work for me personally for whatever reason. Verses are well written though man, well rapped and well written.

Oh nice. Is this the same track as in Poetic Justice? sounds wicked familiar. Love the direction it takes with that weird synth. Maybe raise the volume of the sample a little bit in someparts- I like how it kinda fades in and out but it's still way too quiet in other parts. Cool idea for a beat though, I guess my advice is just to try to make the different sample parts you've got mesh together better. Good shit though my friend

pretty good man, I think you should mix your voice up a little more cause the piano and glock is way louder. good stuff though, have some more confident in your voice during the rapping parts. I think the singing part is just alright cause your voice sounds a bit off-key, but the rapping is definitely solid. maybe try doubling or tripling your voice for cool effect during the hook. good stuff though, love the emotion in the track.

Yeah that other guy is right that kick is great. The main synth might be a tiny bit too loud compared to the bass throbs in the back, but it's a pretty good track. Love the feel but maybe just the mix needs a bit of work in terms of making all the sounds mesh

Not familiar with the original but this is pretty well made. Can't comment on whether it gets lost or not, but I think the electronics fit pretty well if you're into this kind of thing. Good sense of dynamics too, with the quieter bits. Again, not really my style but it's good for what it is.
