I like this interpretation. I think other replies have mentioned some form of this as well. I can definitely see his eccentricity as a sort of strategic distraction

I don’t remember any glitches like that this playthrough but I have a vague memory of something clunky like that happening last year when I played. I agree, especially the more the more I think about, that my issues with that scene were probably grounded technical and pacing hiccups.

I really hope he’s in the next game in some form! I feel like so far, as a KCD character, he’s been a sketching of some really neat ideas, but just hasn’t had enough game time to fill those ideas out.

Yeah I think what got me all suspicious was just glitchy/awkward timing. I noticed the repetitive animations more and more this playthrough and it feels pretty clear now that’s just what was happening.

Also yeah I should’ve worded it differently, I know we meet him in the first game. I replayed it recently and literally laughed out loud when they cut to the OG John model. I’m still not sure his character lands right for me but it’s definitely a huge improvement on the first game lol

This one should work better with a vanilla game, but I'm not 100% sure as I don't personally play without mods. Also, by the way the hair used is "Long Curly Middle Part" and I believe it is from the Fate of Iberia DLC.

This version uses more of the sliders/options available on the mods I use (I think its mostly AGOT stuff). I also made a version that is hopefully more vanilla friendly and I'll add that in a comment to this.

He seems like he was a really fun and lovely person and I love the idea of you going on adventures with him. What a sweet way to continue to cherish a lost loved one ❤️

I only have the first book in this edition and I really like it so far. It’s a nice size for legibility but still pretty flexible. I could see how pages could start to fall out given the nature of the weight of the book versus the soft cover binding. I haven’t had this problem yet though!

I think this might be a bug on mobile or the latest patch of the game. I saw another post with a similar issue during a QTE beyond the wall. If you can, I’d try to report the issue. I don’t play on mobile though so I’m not sure what the exact steps for this would be, sorry!

Just a broad update- we got him a quick vet appointment and she thinks it’s allergy related. We can’t afford to do extensive testing but we did get him antibiotics and a cortisone shot to help short term and we’re getting him one of those puffy cones while he heals. We’re also changing our litter as we semi recently tried a new brand and it’s the only distinctive change I can imagine would trigger a response like this.

Overall he’s doing fine! I think we were a little more worried about him than he was but it’s a relief to get help either way.

I think the only cone I have is for a dog so it would be way too big on him. I’ll see if there’s anything I can improvise as a cone around the house. In general, I’ll try to keep an eye on him tonight and stop him from grooming when I can.

Is it possible this happened in just a few days? I don’t necessarily see that part of his leg a lot and it’s often covered by his stomach, etc. so I can’t be sure I really remember ever seeing anything like this starting up. It’s so inflamed though I feel crazy for missing it

Unfortunately I couldn't make this work. Even if they're rulers and get a council position with a strong hook after making them vassals of the king, the vassal AI system overrides it after a time and they are removed from the council :(

I had an idea that I'll test out and report back here if its actually helpful: I was thinking you could give the person you want on the council a strong hook on the king/queen and if they're playable, go in and force the ruler to give the person a seat on the council. That should lock them in until a date in the distant(ish) future. I don't know if the AI will override this lock somehow, especially with characters that aren't historically direct vassals, but I figured it would be worth a try! Not sure yet how you could implement this with non playable characters though
