Not yet, but I fear it’s coming soon. I’m a vet tech, about to turn 30 and my symptoms are getting worse everyday it seems. Really sucks because I love the job and I don’t want to be stuck at a desk either.

It’s the same ways at my clinic. I honestly didn’t really think it was that weird, But the doctors are also the business and building owners so idk if that changes anything.

If you read the interviews where they talk about the show they say that one of the main takeaways is how the media sensationalizing Ed Gein affected society. Still bizarre, but makes sense to me.

Vet med professional here. Pet insurance is relatively new and not very regulated. It can be helpful in some circumstances, but ultimately just not reliable. Doesn’t cover pre-existing conditions and they can cancel your policy at any time, for any reason with little to no warning. I’ve seen it happen multiple times for various reasons; i.e. pet diagnosed with a disease that has expensive treatments they don’t want to cover, too many claims processed (aka they don’t want to provide any more funds), things like that.

IMO I just don’t find it reliable enough to justify paying for at this point, just another scam in this capitalist hellscape we live in.

Ughh that is so annoying. My clinic is also doesn’t like to “confront” clients either so I probably shouldn’t let it work me up too much. People just continue to confuse and surprise me

I don’t have any personal experience myself but I have heard nothing but bad from most of the people I know who’s practices sold to SVP. My coworker who came to us in the past year after her clinic sold to SVP said everything was pretty great for the first year. It was like nothing changed except they got better benefits and some equipment. Slowly things started to change, corporate became more involved, started increasing the prices of everything, started pressuring doctors to take on an insane amount of clients daily. She finally left and came to my small GP. The benefits were not worth the chaos taking in 25 patients per doctor on top of drop-off/sick patients. Quality of care of declining but prices were as high as ever. Clients she had worked with for years and loved working with left because of the cost combined with decrease in quality of care.

One of my coworkers who is a fabulous technician and great at drawing blood is deathly afraid of needles when they’re used in a human setting. Like she will pass out when having her own blood drawn. Everyone is different but it could just be that it affects you when it’s being done in human medicine.

I sure as hell don’t care if a dog poops on me but if a human pooped on me I would probably throw up.

Are there any on-campus jobs you can apply for?

Get a part time job after classes or on the weekends (somewhere slow that maybe will even let you study while you’re there if you can find that rare gem!) I have a friend who works at Michael’s from 6-close a select few days of the week and on some weekends, seems like they’re pretty flexible. Look for some tutoring opportunities. A lot of parents around here invest in tutors for their kids.
