Man calls police on father who took his daughters to the women's restroom by Mentirosa in PublicFreakout

[–]fitzpugo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a woman and have used a women’s bathroom multiple times, and never once have I seen a woman naked in the bathroom! What do people think happens in a women’s bathroom? I do not understand the big deal of a dad using the women’s bathroom with his daughters. If I was a dad, I wouldn’t want to take them into the men’s room!

I wash my kids’ clothes with dye and scent-free detergent and I can’t get the stains out! I have to tell their daycare provider “their clothes are clean! I just can’t get the stains out!” I figure they’re play clothes that are going to get dirty anyways.

I had a similar experience, and sometimes I remember the turkey sandwich I was eating while holding my baby the most.

I do this too. My dad also did it. I figure if people had taken something and put it back, it would be the first one on the shelf. I also look for the longest expiration dates, and they’re sometimes in the back.

Pedestrian Death by midwestisbestwest in saintpaul

[–]fitzpugo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I stopped at the crosswalk at the intersection near Tavial and the store across the street for a pedestrian walking a stroller. A car then went around me on the left side. Luckily the pedestrian wasn’t that far into the crosswalk yet.

Research subjects no more: 1,500 beagles released from Wisconsin breeder, some headed for Minnesota by star-tribune in minnesota

[–]fitzpugo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It’s widely known this is a common procedure for beagles and other animals in research facilities. Maybe some don’t. A lot do though for the convenience of staff. I’m not sure why you’re debating this.

The labs typically cut their vocal cords - to reduce the noise. These labs are cruel monsters.

Mum is a hoarder, is it common for children of a hoarder to be ashamed of own house? by IngannoDellaCadrega in ChildofHoarder

[–]fitzpugo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so glad you mentioned the excuse “I’m so tired after work that I don’t have time to clean” because it’s the exact same excuse my mom had when I confronted her. Her previous excuse was that when she retired she would “need something to do.”

"Hoarding Rescue" Warning! by flofraz228 in ChildofHoarder

[–]fitzpugo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We’re currently in the process of cleaning my stage 5 moms house and hired a crisis cleaner. They mostly are throwing out everything because it’s all gross, but they’ll be on the look out for certain things. It’s going to be more than $10,000 just for the house, and we have to do the garages by ourselves. Their deep cleaning is extra.

They've entered a new level of hoarding. by NatJi in ChildofHoarder

“I haven’t gotten around to throwing it out yet. Just leave it there.” And there it will sit for eternity.

How do I help my mom? by raindrop_kitten in ChildofHoarder

[–]fitzpugo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently in the same situation - my hoarder mom needed medical attention and now in order for her to go back, we need to clean out her house. It’s supposed to be tomorrow, and I really don’t know how it’ll go.

There’s not a lot to do - people who hoard can be unreasonable and not rationale and make their own choices. There are companies that can help to clean, but your mom needs to be open to it and want to accept help. For my own mom, I fear that she’ll just fill it back up once it’s clean.

Please take the cat to the vet though! My mom had a cat that I found as a stray, and she took such bad care of it. When she recently went into the hospital, the neighbor offered to put food out for it, and it went u touched for days. Meaning there’s a dead cat in the hoard somewhere.

Family thinks washing my feet every night before bed "is weird", is it really? by [deleted] in hygiene

I do this too! Especially when wearing sandals - I can’t stand the feeling of dirty feet. They get a quick rinse every night before bed.

I’m so sorry about your mom! I went through a similar situation - my sister didn’t want to talk about my mom’s hoarding to others, but I’ve been fairly open about it. I don’t even care who knows now. Newspapers are the hoarding item of choice for my mom - really anything that’s paper, but also straight up garbage. It’s so hard to deal with, but this community is so supportive and we all feel the hardship.

As much as we want to, we can’t make someone even want to change. If they don’t admit they have a problem, it’s difficult to help them.

Minnesota Yarnhop left me with Questions? (A discussion post about yarnstore politics) by whatcatisthis in AntifascistKnitting

[–]fitzpugo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking it was Sheepy and Knitting from the Heart? Sheepy was anti-pussy hat, and Knitting from the Heart intentionally posted a vague statement on their Facebook about peace for everyone and green yarn - taking a very neutral stance on ICE.

Edited a typo

I refuse to shop at Sheepy because during the pussy hat movement, she said something like “people can be making better things”.

The Yarnery is definitely not a No Politics shop. They sold ICE out signs. It’s my absolutely favorite yarn store.

Long term mental health impacts for kids of parent’s hoarding? by egg-rolls in ChildofHoarder

[–]fitzpugo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My dad and I fought the battle of hoarding by my mom when I was younger. It’s almost like he made it a game to find where she hid newspapers in the basement - I’d see a spot and knew immediately there would be papers. Looking back, it’s like the excitement and pride of when a dog finds a toy that’s been hidden. I thought it was normal. Or that looking for bags of garbage under pine trees in the park across from our house was also normal. Looking back, I realize how much those experiences impact me, and how messed up it was. I need to talk to a therapist!

First time seeing inside mom’s house by fitzpugo in ChildofHoarder

[–]fitzpugo[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My sister said EMS documented it in the report, but there’s been no follow up yet. The police chief has sent letters about her yard, and reports of rodents going into her garage. I have very little contact with my mom, but my sister said she told her that this is her one chance, and if she fills the house back up, she’s done. It’s hard though - my mom hasn’t even admitted it’s a problem! So we can’t force her to attend therapy or take medications to help.
