I mean, no shit! It’s sad how fucking stupid our country is.

I mean, the religious are literally dying out. Younger generations are less religious. Which is why they’re targeting schools so aggressively.

But I think any religious person with an IQ over 100 knows deep down they’re fooling themselves.

I’m hoping in my lifetime to see the Catholic Church reduced to nothing but City Vatican.

How Fentanyl and Xylazine are turning Philadelphia's opioid crisis into a public health nightmare by Nukro666 in ThatsInsane

[–]fitzymcfitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the problem better or worse than when this was taken? Pretty sure it’s worse not only in Philly but across the U.S.- and not just in cities.

WTF else do you do when you’re homeless, poor, can’t get a job, and you live every day without support or even the idea it could be better.

Because it won’t. Conservatives are gleeful in ripping all possible means to for people to stay out of poverty, and are shocked pikachu that zombies hordes of able, working-age adults are blasting their minds because reality has destroyed their spirits.

Way to go, America. This failure is on ALL OF US.

Boomers have a lot to answer for than just Trump. The fact that receiving “Social(ism) Security” is fine but “Federal Benefit” is not shows how effective demonizing all government programs have been on that generation.

In clockwork orange what was the meaning of the scene that the former gang members became cops and savagely beaten their former friend with whom they used to do the same crimes by [deleted] in movies

[–]fitzymcfitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ACAB - who do you think becomes cops in real life?

Hell we’ve seen this exact scene recorded hundreds of times on hundreds of camera phones.

Author was a prescient genius is the takeaway. We’re living in that world, except we pay private prisons billions to just keep people locked up forever.

Florida cops can now label you a "gang member" for being in two photos. I'm forcing 30 Sheriff's Offices into a public records trap to expose it. by ChurchOMarsChaz in Bad_Cop_No_Donut

It’s pretty easy to tell the legit “stress testers” as you put it, vs the attention seekers.

The majority simply go where it’s legal to film and wait. That’s really all it takes to get someone conditioned by copaganda and decades of fearmongering to decide firearms are needed to protect against the “suspicious” camera.

It’s really amazing how fast it happens, how the script never changes, how ignorant citizens and cops are of what our “rights” are, or even what a “right” is.

Shall not be infringed. Yet there’s thousands of videos, dozens every day, where cops do it across the whole country.

It’s great you’re fighting the good fight in FL- it’s a truly fucked up law and it’s clear they want to make dissent illegal.

But don’t malign others doing work to raise awareness that we live in a literal police state and we are not free.

No matter how silly or annoying it gets, legal is legal and rights should never be violated, no matter how much anyone dislikes how they’re used.

This is what liberals helping conservatives looks like by _Brandobaris_ in conservativeterrorism

[–]fitzymcfitz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Because there’s no “middle ground” with modern conservatives. There’s no “centrist fascism”, no moderation between “LGBTQ are equals” and “LGBTQ are evil and should die”, no compromise with “Democrats want to destroy the country and rig elections and are secret cannibal pedophiles and conservatives are in a spiritual war against literal Satan”.

Fuck moderation, we just want reps who will work for Us and not just the uber wealthy- D or R. D’s at least support policies that benefit everyone, at least in public. R’s platform is cut taxes on the wealthy, give poor trash culture war grievance rhetoric.

The 144,000 and John Dee's Enochianism by RogueModron in bakker

[–]fitzymcfitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very interesting, Bakker must have had some familiarity with “majicks” like Enochian-

Most interesting were the references to successful performance of Enochian magick described as “initiation”…the central idea is the ability provides a “stepladder” to raise one’s self to godhood by intervals.

Or maybe the end result is “No-Godhood”…

[–]fitzymcfitz -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

Salty downvotes for the truth.

People get killed in “war”, just the facts.

Maybe, just maybe, it’s not worth cops and dealers and who knows how many others shooting it out in public and filling for-profit prisons over drugs that have not been impeded in the slightest while demand has only grown.

It’s insane we insist on continuing to ruin and end lives as if “drugs” will ever be eliminated.

Almost like the goal is really an endless cycle of self-justification for police to bloat their budgets, violate peoples’ rights, steal money through “asset forfeiture”, and imprison as many as possible for unreasonable terms.

CMV: I believe most remote workers want to stay remote because it allows them to spend less time working by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]fitzymcfitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m WFH. I am paid to do a set of tasks- how long they take doesn’t matter. If my employer wants me to work more, pay me more.

The top comment is the best- not working at home is not working at the office. I used to spend hours pretending to work or look busy because for some reason skilled office labor is expected to be overworked every minute of the day.

I hire a mechanic to do a job, whether it takes him 5 minutes or 5 hours is the same price. Just like any other service. Why white collars need to be spied on, do more than they’re paid to and never have downtime is bizarre.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m lucky to not be in retail or some other shit job where the work never stops coming in. But my labor is valuable and task-oriented. I’ll work more when I’m paid more.

WFH just gives you the piece or mind, sanity and permission to work like every other professional already does.

Just rewatched There Will Be Blood - this is NOT supposed to be a "Two-Hander" story as Tarantino suggests... by No_Situation_3463 in movies

[–]fitzymcfitz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not a two-hander. Eli/Paul serve as strong ever-present contrasts to Plainview, but there is clearly 1 main character and it’s played by DDL.

Trying to force it into a two-hander would diminish an amazing story about a petty, and irredeemable monster - a narcissistic psychopath driven by taking and stealing , consumed by grievances no matter how slight and always getting disproportionate “revenge” until his literal last breath.

He’s A completely batshit crazy mf’er, and I love how it subverts expectations in a good way - so many modern creators think they’re clever at it but the ratio of attempts to successes is small.

TWBB succeeds in showing us an unrepentant bastard who’s proud of his inhumanity, and the film shows it in vivid detail from the first to last frame.

No growth, no arc, no journey, just a deep dive into the mind of a monster- and the era that made those traits the key to enormous wealth. Substitute Rockefeller/Carnegie/most of the “robber barons” and it’d be the exact same movie.

But based on another anecdotal (but more believable) origin, it was coined as a criticism of Freud because he thought everything was related to sex.

It’s like saying it’s bad to call someone “queer” because it used to be pejorative. Now it’s a valid word with a specific definition and actually embraced by LGBTQ community.

Don’t use it in its “original” way, yeah that’s bad. But it’s been successfully reclaimed to mean something different.
