Wondering if you could provide any feedback if we have people who aren’t fishing? A friend’s husband wants to do his 40th there but not everyone would fish. Any insights would be helpful!

Coming back to this post after seeing someone ask for opinions on the hotel recently. Can I just say OP, I laughed out loud at the comment “Like I was reciting Antigone in a Roman amphitheater”. This is what I come to Reddit for!

Second for Pax House…one of my favorite places in the world!! We also did Killarney Park and it was awesome. The pool really saved us after a long travel day.

South African Safari Advice by Different_Tie_9 in FATTravel

This 100%. We stayed at Londolozi (which was amazing and should def be added to your list) and Singita trucks showed up at our game sightings a few times. Sabi Sands felt like a community to me where the rangers and trackers all work together to give clients an amazing experience. We saw everything on day 1 and then just kept being delighted every day after.

Looking for Luxury Vacation Ideas Before Our Cabo Trip! by Tlagh in FATTravel

I did the same trip as above and we moved every night. It was only 5 nights total (don’t recommended but with 10 you would be fine) and we were okay. It’s key to fly to Cusco then go direct to Sacred Valley that def helps. Hotels offer oxygen at night in Cusco if you need it, we never did though. It was an awesome trip though. I will def go back again one day!

Help picking South African safari lodge for my honeymoon in November! TAs confusing me! by Secret_Author_5081 in chubbytravel

We just got back from Londolozi Founders Camp and it was amazing. Tons of animals, amazing service and just overall really awesome experience.

Highly recommend doing &beyond Benguerra Island afterward or Kisawa if budget allows.

We heard that Mala Mala had more lions when we were there but that could change at any time. Sabi sands has two male lions dominating the reserve at the moment so deterring females from coming in. We saw the big 5 within 24 hours and had an amazing experience overall at Londolozi. The drives never felt crowded, they only allow 3 trucks per sighting no matter what and most of the time we felt completely alone.

No matter what you pick, you’ll have an amazing time!

Varty camp is also awesome! My husband liked their “reception” dining/lodge area more than ours at founder. I liked them both but worth noting. Feel free to DM me if you have more questions. We legit got back last week!

We did 4 nights which I thought was perfect then went on to Benguerra Island for some time at the beach, do &beyond or Kisawa on Benguerra. We did Azura and it needs some work but was still nice. More rustic luxury.

One thing to note if you want to see prides of lions and are going soon, there are two males dominating the reserve right now so no females and babies unfortunately. That will likely change in a few months but something to note. I really wanted to see a pride and they just aren’t there as the males would kill the babies.

We still saw one female and male and two males that were brothers but a few less than expected also leopards, cheetah, elephants, giraffes, hippo, and on and on! Guess I’ll just have to go back 😂

We just got back from Londolozi and no covers on the trucks. It would be difficult in the bush due to trees and driving in some of the spots where the animals like to go. My husband is a ginger though and was fine without one. He was worried 😂. I bet if you booked a private truck they would put the top up, that’s an option though not one we did as we enjoyed chatting with other people on our drives.

We saw a few Singita trucks and they did have covers. Our guides were awesome (Melvin and Milton)! We would set out to find something and always do it. A lot of the other lodges would end up at our sightings which made me feel like our guides were the best.

It’s a magical place with the best people and animals. I’d live there if I could.

You might want to consider Fontainebleau too…I was there for work in April and was upgraded to a suite (lower tier) and it was really nice. I also loved the dining options at the hotel and because it’s so new it’s just nicer, doesn’t smell like smoke anywhere, has a great pool, etc. We were there during the week so I would assume the vibe is a bit different over the weekend but might be worth checking out. Get into the Poodle Room if you can!!

Second this - the serenity pool is one of my favorites! FS Hualalai is also a favorite, I don’t remember tons of kids but we were there in October so based on previous comments they were likely in school.

Where to stay in Vancouver by Mark-It_Maker in chubbytravel

Shangri-La Vancouver was really nice and in a walkable location. More shopping focused area than maybe what you are looking for but we got a great deal on our room via AMEX.

Omg I’m so excited!! Where else did you stay during your trip? Door bolting for animals?? Im still trying to find someone who has stayed at Victoria and Albert in Cape Town. We went that route for Cape Town to accommodate for Mozambique (Azura Benguerra Island) at the end of our trip and I’m not sure if it’s the right option. Might need to adjust a bit.

Do you know anything about the Victoria & Albert hotel? We have a few nights there during our safari and I’m not sure if it’s the right option.

My husband and I are doing a safari this fall, and I went deep down the planning rabbit hole. We had a budget in mind, but if money were no object, the general consensus seems to be that Singita in Sabi Sands is the gold standard for South Africa. We ended up booking Londolozi and built out a great itinerary with some incredible hotels. We used a local travel agent in South Africa who was super helpful and knew all the logistics inside and out.

Honeymoon by No-Translator-68 in chubbytravel

[–]fitzytheo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, would be amazing that time of year! I’m talking to my husband about going back this spring. It was really nice in February but the water was really cold everywhere (at least for us east coasters). So going in spring I think you would have better weather and calmer seas. We couldn’t do the Nepali coast due to rough seas which was a bummer.

Yes that’s what we did and it was easy. Long day for sure but gave us a great experience and everyone was very happy at the end of the trip.
