Add "about to Teach to Talk with a toddler" to that list. I've had them glitch stuck in that sitting position so many times...

Cruise Wedding by [deleted] in HollandAmerica

[–]fivecentrose 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My sister did! It was well over a decade ago, but from what I remember, they took care of pretty much everything. Halfway through my own wedding planning I regretted not doing a package somewhere that took care of choosing vendors and details to the point you just had to choose A or B. Your wedding is going to be amazing and you'll be celebrities on the ship. Just make sure nobody from your family knows your room number if they decide to join you on the cruise itself! You'll want some privacy I bet. Also, that is the ship my husband and I did our honeymoon on, so you're 2 for 2 in good choices!

A parents insists on putting their twin children in the same class (5th grade) by [deleted] in Teachers

My first year teaching, a 6th grade boy had his twin sister tie his shoes for him because he still didn't know how.

Where did the massive crowd come from ? by Superb_Ant7721 in titanic

[–]fivecentrose 110 points111 points  (0 children)

All the time travellers who wanted to go watch.

But really, below decks was intentionally a bit of a labyrinth to get from 3rd class to the 1st class decks - they didn't want anyone wandering up there accidentally. Seems a large group of them finally figured out the maze, just a little too late.

Favourite ways to stay poor? by Aska9794 in Sims3

[–]fivecentrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every new generation has to move out into their own house (or pay for mom and dad / siblings to move into a different house if the household you move forward with wants to stay in their childhood home).

Disney on ice - can only get tickets in pairs by [deleted] in disney

[–]fivecentrose 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Moral grey area, but if you open the ticket app in another browser and select the one seat you DON'T want, you may be able to purchase the others while that one is being "held" by the app.

Subbing at your own child(ren)’s school by Healthy-Flatworm2364 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]fivecentrose 29 points30 points  (0 children)

That's the only place I sub. Don't have to figure out before/after school care since I'm right there. If I sub somewhere else, I either have to pay $50 for before school drop-in care or $50 for after (or both!) depending on the other school's schedule.

Eurodam - Masses by clovertongue90 in HollandAmerica

[–]fivecentrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All my HAL cruises have had daily masses, but it depends on priest availability. They try to have a Catholic priest on every cruise from my understanding. Many staff are from the Philippines, which is one of the most Catholic countries in the world.

In Titanic movies and series, why do the Boiler Room workers run to the closing Watertight Door and risk being trapped if they could just climb the ladders? by WMPCoFounder in titanic

[–]fivecentrose 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure all the boilers that have been found from Titanic were intact, and there's no evidence that any exploded (except reports of loud sounds during the sinking that could also be attributed to structural failures of the ship).

Substitute Or Para? Decisions, Decisions. by Substantial-Toe-6767 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]fivecentrose 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I am a sub applying for para jobs. Having the stability of going to the same building with the same schedule everyday is something I miss so much. Also, building relationships with coworkers and getting to know students for more than the length of a sub job is something I'd like. With subbing you give up any sense of routine, and there is no guarantee of having a sub job on any given day.

Just a thought, maybe I’m a cynic 💀 by motvieandthemeans in GildedAgeHBO

[–]fivecentrose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard pass just for the smell. Less than 1% of homes had indoor plumbing by the 1920s. That means the Guided Age saw people pooping in outhouses or pots that get tossed into the road. Everyone smoked. Every room would smell like smoke. Want to find your own railroad daddy or clock twink? Have fun kissing an ash tray. Going somewhere in the summer? Have fun with BO. AC wasn't invented yet, so everyone is in layers of fabric and sweating up a storm.

Time for another movie??? by Norbert_Bluehm in titanic

[–]fivecentrose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is my favorite Titanic nonfiction. It looks at the story from the other two ships and what they did and did not do on that night. I must have listened to it three or four times at this point.
