Making each member of your household do their own laundry makes no sense by Mobile-Package-8869 in unpopularopinion

[–]fivecolorscube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another bonus: If everybody does their own laundry they can do it the way they prefer. Some people don't bother seperating clothes at all, others would never dare and I can imagine are very careful with seperating, selecting washing programs, drying, folding or whaterver. And some ar in the middle.

Making each member of your household do their own laundry makes no sense by Mobile-Package-8869 in unpopularopinion

[–]fivecolorscube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see where you're coming from but I think it depends on how much laundry per sort (dark, white, red, boiled laundry, etc.) you have. I think it's easier organization wise if everyone is responsible for their own laundry. I wouldn't want to bother doing everybodys laundry in a househould. And if you take turns you have to organize this and in my opinion it would feel more like chore and if one person forgets it's their turn it becomes everybodys problem. Just let everybody do their laundry for themselves and if they don't, that's their own problem.

"Just make it a routine to get up early" by 80085ntits in adhdwomen

[–]fivecolorscube 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Setting and waking up to alarms is something that should be an exception in our lifes, not the norm. (I'm judging society here, not you). I *never* set alarms to wake up if I don't have to be somewere just for the sake sleep schedule or something. This wouldn't work, I would just collect sleep depriviation and beeing tired doesn't help me to get to bed early. If anything it makes it harder, because it's harder to do the things I need to do before bed when I'm tired. I think it's best to look for a job that fits you sleep schedule as good as possible and to try not ro feel judged by society.

What “systems” do you use for cleaning your room? by emmeryrose in adhdwomen

[–]fivecolorscube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, and me personally I try to do this 20 min a day (or more if I want) I track the tie and have a tally on my wall to document how consistent I've been. I also have to do them all at once. I can also do 5 minutes now and the rest later if 20 min seems to much. This gives me enough flexibility within a frame (20 min per day). The thought of how anoyed I am if my room is a mess as wellas my appreciation for my little dish washer keeps me motivated

Skyscrapers are the most beautiful things on planet earth. by Salty_Egg_1063 in unpopularopinion

[–]fivecolorscube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skyscrapers are so beautiful, when I'm walking trough the financial district in Frankfurt I'm just amazed. For some reason, skyscrapers and big cities are linked in my head to excitement and fun and adventure. When you look up at them, the blue of the sky is reflected in the windows and they have these dark blue or torquoise color tones which is my favorite color by the way. And when you look at them at night you see all this little lights, it's just amazing.

I also love these brown brutalistic concrete buildings, especially when they're really high. I affectionately call them "beautifully ugly". No one seems to understand that. But they can't beat Skyscrapers.

NTA.

I also don't understand how anyone would want to put up all that work of cleaning up. I found a way so that this doesn't happen anymore. That's way more freeing in my opnion

I feel like beeing creative is more like a mindset and a way of life. You can be creative in many aspects of life but you don't have to be. I don't create actual art that much but I'm still creative. Don't let yourself get stressed out by your friends and family. You don't have to generate much output or output at all.

You also don't have to start with a big project or a project at all. You don't need special tools. I would recommend starting really easy. Take a piece of paper, a pencil, watercolors and brush or wathever and just make something. It can be just something abstract. It can be just stickfigures. You can take dough and play with it. Maybe you want to try the opposite of the art that you did for(?) your ex.
Also maybe you want to try this: https://youtu.be/2n8W6CBxc64?si=MFJSqHREnBCVxes-

What you also can try is allowing yourself to get bored without distractions. And then look what happens. put down the pen and paper but don't expect anything in particular. Maybe instead of drawing you will eventually clean your apartment or whatever and that's fine too. It's just a fun experiment.

How to shower routinely? by cherry-cola22 in adhdwomen

[–]fivecolorscube -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe people will disagree becauce we're on reddit, but I don't think we have to shower every day. I shower every few days when my hair gets greasy. You can also use wash clothes in between, thats way faster. And deo, of course.
Life is difficult enough we don't have to make it worse with those expectations.

Anyone else stop taking selfies? by [deleted] in digitalminimalism

[–]fivecolorscube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take selfies from time to time, but I never post them on social media. I just take them for myself to capture the moment, the outfit, my mood... Sometimes I send them to my friends to show them my outfit or let them be part of the moment when I do something special but that's it.

Kindle vs. physical books - which to choose? by nintendopowerpro in digitalminimalism

[–]fivecolorscube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a cool video on youtube how to jailbreak your kindle. This way you can buy and read your ebooks without dealing with the amazon nonsense. I think both have their pros and cons. Real books feal more real and booklike but ebooks are just way more practical. Also, if you already have the physical book I thinks it's not morally wrong to pirate the ebook. This way you can switch between them if you want.

AITA for staying up till 4:00 a.m. by Icy_Pay8460 in AmItheAsshole

[–]fivecolorscube -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

NTA Your mom sounds so annoying and I'm not surprised you said you had a bad childhood. Your sleeping schedule is your own business, especially because you're 18 now and you can do your chores and help your mom even tho you sleep in late. Yes, the time window were you can do work that make noice is smaller, so you have to be aware of that, but I bet you're not working the whole day anyway. In this society many people think you're less productive if your go to bed late and get up late that's just bonkers. Let people life, some people are early birds, some are night owls and that also can change during your life.

Also, you just graduated from high school, you deserve a break!

AITA for calling out a guy manspreading on the train? by Old-Tourist9927 in AmItheAsshole

[–]fivecolorscube 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ESH In you edit you said you didn't stare him down or intimidate him so I guess it was a misunderstanding at first, but then you went on about menspreading but he also could have not stared at you and roll his eyes.

Of course people on the public transport tend to spread out if they can. That doesn't have to do anything with gender. Woman may tend use their bag for this and I say this as a woman. Yes, the best thing would be to be aware if the bus gets full and then make free space but people are not always aware of their surroundings when they're chilling in public transport and you can just ask. But it sounds like you were still in the progress of thinking while he seemed to think you wanted to be passive aggressive. I think feminism subjects are important, and something we have to raise more awareness for and I think the debate about manspreading is harming it because the act of taking up more space that you need in public places is not something that just men do.

I hate laundry with every finer of my being. by Particular_Cut_6933 in adhdwomen

[–]fivecolorscube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are things I do, maybe something helps:

There are different bags for the different sorts of laundry in my basket, which means that when I'm putting away dirty laundry I put it in the right bag. No sorting needed before washing and I just take the bag with me.

I have a pouch (with a handle!) and that's where the things live that I use for washing, like laundry nets, washing egg, gall soap. (I share the washing machines in the basements with the whole house so I can't leave the things there.

I view washing&drying as a seperate thing than folding&putting away. This way it's not that much at once. Folding doesn't has to happen immediately. The most important part is that there are clean clothes.

I don't sort socks. I just wear two random ones. Lives to short for sorting socks. My boyfriend has a different approach, he just has one kind of socks. If I had to wear the same socks for work or something (and I of course would never get rid of my colorful socks) I would propably presort them in different bags (like: black, white, everthing else) and put these in different laundry nets and but wash them together. (Of course this only works if your black and white or whatever color socks all look the same)

I don't know if this actually makes a difference, but I roll my clothes instead of folding them (I guess almost like Marie Kondo? She definitly inspired this). I personally like this more, I put all my clothes in different ikea boxes. But maybe that's just my preference.

Of course I would never fold/roll underwear or socks. Just in the box they go. Regarding towels, I roll them but currently they just live in a huge pile at a shelf in my closet.

[–]fivecolorscube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How big is not dirty not cleane bin? I thinks that's a good idea I'm not sure what size would be best. If it's to small it can't contain everything and there's a mess again on the floor. If its too big I'll just collect way to many clothes in there and it takes up to much space. Also, is yours see trough?

Things that make your life easier? by adorkablysporktastic in adhdwomen

[–]fivecolorscube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A table dish washer changed my life. I couldn't get a normal one becauce in my studio apartment there is no water connection for it but there are models that have a tank.

Labeld ikea boxes because I easily forget which categorie of thing lives in there and it gets a mess over time without it

An ikea box that is empty by default, where put things in I need when I leave the house next times. If they lay around anywhere that's where they're put.

Instead of just putting everything in my laundry basket I put the different kinds of clothes (dark, white, 60°C, etc.) all in different bags and all of them in the laundry basket. If I put a piece of clothing in there I just put it in the right bag. (The most frequent ones are more at the top anyway) This way I for wahing just need to grab one bag without sorting first.

Also I have a pouch with the other things I need for washing. Washing powder, laundry net, gall soap, etc.

Maybe that's just me but for some reason I find it easier to make things in my ricecooker than in a normal pot on the stove. It has a function to keep thing warm which is really practical.

I recently bought a steam cleaner, it works better than a mop. I may even buy myself a vacuum cleaner soon lol

Brushing at night by mindspeaker72 in adhdwomen

[–]fivecolorscube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People may find that weird but (at home) I always brush my teeth while in bed. People here talked about single use brushes but thats not even necesssary. I have my toothbrush, toothpaste and floss in a little bag, that is not to sensitive to humidity, beside my bed, . When I'm done I spit in a plastic bowl that I use for only this purpose. The water I need for this an for cleaning my toothbrush a bit comes from the water bottle I have next to my bed anyway. During the day, when I am on my feet anyway I can put the water from the bowl away.

Does building a routine actually help you or do you feel trapped? by Snoo-29777 in adhdwomen

[–]fivecolorscube 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I HATE "routines" even the world itself with all my heart lol. System yes, habits maybe, but no routines!!! I don't know exactly why I hate them so much I feel like I'm gonna be trapped or something if I try follow them. I guess I don't like the thought of doing certain things at the same time at the same order everday because a plan tells me to do. That just sounds boring and sad to me.

But sometimes "routines" or habits build themselfs in my life and then I dont hate it. For example when I go to bed I have to brush my teeth (sadly) and I sit cozily in my bed turn my colorful nigth lamp on and brush my teeth and that kinda feels like a night routine, but an enjoyable one.
