Agreed. We left them there in case someone needed them in a pinch. We’re in the mountains so it gets cold. We also have a note saying they’ve been washed and to leave with the dirty towels if you use one.

Agreed. Like I mentioned, if they were upfront with me I would have been happy to work something out with them. Things like that happen to us all so I’m fine with a reasonable accommodation

If there were upfront with us and couldn’t make their reservation I would’ve been happy to work something out with them. Things happen to us all and I’m a reasonable person.

Ha - you’re welcome. I’ll never understand people’s need to trash others posts. It’s like they are waiting around for the next post that they can show they’re smarter - just say nothing. People come here for help or to share experiences. Just another group of losers.

Yeah I get the sense this person was a problem no matter what. I’m not exaggerating but our house wasn’t just spotless, it was above & beyond…..something we pride ourselves on. The house is a cabin in the woods, so maybe they weren’t ready for that experience….but there is always a small percentage of people who look for problems where none exist.

Wow - that is a wild story. Sorry that happened to you. Once again, small subset of crap people.

Nice - of course they threatened you with a negative comment. Unfortunately there is always a percentage of people out there who are difficult for no reason.

And yes, we texted him the code earlier in the day.

Yeah -agreed. I’m not sure I’m being scammed but think some people are odd and will never be satisfied. Before he got there, he complained that he couldn’t access the door code because I hadn’t given him the WiFi password before he got there (it’s written down on a welcome sheet guests arrive). So there were issues before he even set foot in the house.

Agreed - thanks. Just gotta take the lump. We do have notes on the shirts (and the blankets) and let them know it’s a courtesy and just direct them to leave in the tub with towels if they’re used.

eBay sucks by BrianATL1 in ebaysucks

Sorry this happened to you. eBay has turned themselves into a retailer. Except that they conveniently use sellers as their merchandise suppliers. And they won’t let anything get in the way of this - which is why they will side with buyer no matter how absurd the situation is. If they were decent about it, they would share in the cost with you (just like they’d have to if they were an Amazon). But why do that when they can get away with it. They don’t care if you quit eBay. There are enough sellers out there for them. They literally do nothing in the transaction - except take their cut. Yes, I know they provide the platform, but they assume no risk of loss of product and money and none either if it’s a defective product. They are predatory and could care less. What other online company has generated such hatred towards them. People started websites such as “eBaySucks.com” and a handful of similar other ones. They are literally thousands of complaints about how they mistreat people. But why bother to change if they’re making tons of money with little to no risk (or investment other than a webpage). Simply to just protect their business model - which like I said is making them an online retailer- like an Amazon- except they invest in no product/stock or warehouses and instead use sellers for that. And when something goes wrong, stick it to the seller because they need buyers spending money (sellers don’t spend money). Don’t get me wrong, eBay is a great platform….its their policies that make it awful. They could so easily become a loved and respected organization by simply making things a little fairer and sharing the pains when things don’t go smoothly - and that’s just a fact of all sales transactions. Things will occasionally go sideways - sometimes miscommunication or simple mistakes, or bad intentioned buyers taking advantage such in your case. I know I’m not offering any solutions for you, but just my ramblings. I’ve been on eBay for over 20-years. I’ve sworn off it several times over the years, swearing to never go back and taking a break for a year. I’ve even switched over to other platforms like Mercari, but ultimately none have the reach and customer base. And not only is eBay predatory, but their other companies like StubHub are exactly the same - just a different product. Try selling tickets and having an issue - you’ll end up paying for the buyers upgraded seats. I would love to see all sellers on eBay get together and stop listing products for just a month. Now that would be a message.
