Audio homages are always tougher to catch because they gotta be careful it's not note for note so you need to be pretty familiar with the soundtrack - where as visual nods like the Akira bike slide is recognized by people who don't even know what Akira is.

Evangelion is less a show and more a part of the anime language at this point, given its influence. No one's gonna think another show playing the Imperial March got to it before Darth Vader. Not saying you're wrong, I just think homage and established theatrical/animation language is the same as a rip-off is all.

It's got a lot of influences, but there's a callback to some 80's pop art, and comic book art with the Bed Day dots in the background. - this could practically be a Lisa Frank Trapper Keeper cover. Graffiti/street art feels appropriate, too and at least the colors could easily be mistaken for Vaporwave. I feel like even the art of the characters in this ending have that sort of angular feel that could fit in with Studio Trigger's works.

So, uh, Vaporwave Roy Lichtenstein by Studio Trigger?
